How rough is Seattle?

So yeah I might be making a trip up there this weekend but I'm debating if I should drive or not. Its always nice having a car but with gas prices the way they are I dunno. I'm tempted to not care about the gas but what I'm more worried about is the terrain. I heard it was really hilly up there. Can I get confirmation on this. I'm still getting used to my 6mt so the last thing I want to do is roll into someones front end. I'm ok on some hills, but when its nonstop steep hills with downtown traffic stopping at every light, I'm not really down for that. My other option is taking the Amtrak and I guess walking wherever. Seattle people help please with your opinions.

There are quite a few nice steep hills in downtown. QUITE A FEW.

I'd say if it's really nice, then maybe drive. I have done that drive more than I want to think about, but it's a nice drive.

Oh one thing, do you have a bra/clear bra on your G? If not, on second thought, dont drive. You'll end up with more than a few rock chips. Truckers are always driving in the left lane pasing people on the 2 lane sections, and you can hear teh rocks hitting the front...It hurst to hear it.

My fron bumper is trashed from rock chips from this drive...I learn the hard way.

Most of the hills are streets going west to east. So that said the north and south streets in downtown Seattle are fairly nice to drive on. Except for the ones near Pike Place Market if you like to go over bricks and stuff. Hopefully you get the idea

Yup the Hills go east to west... so as long as you mainly do north/south driving you'll be ok... but if you are ONLY getting used to the 6MT I wouldn't recommend trying to drive in downtown, you will more then likely roll into someone's front end.

Yeah thanks for the advice. What I ended up doing was taking the Greyhound too Seattle and had friends pick me up. My first impression of Seattle hills was holy crap!!! Even the bus seemed to struggle cause of the weight and the hills. Maybe it was just the area though. The pier area didn't seem that bad. Then we walked to the Pike Market. Yeah I dunno if I'm ready for all that. Those were crazy hills with lots of cars, and even more people walking around. Last thing I wanna do is run over people buying fresh fish. I do love the city and hope to go back soon. Hopefully though I get alot better and won't have to worry about that. I do just wanna cruise my car around there for the hell of it.
