GRID for PS3
Anyone else have the game?
My thoughts after playing for about 3 hours (lol you're probably thinking this review is going to suck):
Pros:
1) Visually it's a beautiful game. Smooth and mention to detail is quite on the point as far as car design and decal.
2) Freestyle drift mode is pretty darn fun.
3) Audio wise it's pretty impressive. In-cabin, 3rd person (or would it be 3rd car in this matter?)
4) Detail to damage is nice as well. Decal/damage to detail.
5) Different types of drift modes. Drift battle, GP, Freestyle, Pro Touge, Midnight Touge.
Cons:
1) Gamewise it's a little hard to steer and get used to (believe me.. most of you are saying, "He's only been playing for 3 hours, how serious is this guy as far as getting used to the game/steering?" Believe me, 3 hours and still not getting used to the steering on a racing game is quite enough if you ask me. lol.
2) Game factor: They wanted to focus more on the "racing" aspect of the game rather than focusing on "tuning". Which is okay in my book. However, in doing so, it is quite hard to get used to having to be soooo limited to:
traction control: on/off
transmission: auto/manual
braking assist: on/off
stability control: on/off
As far as anything else.. I'm not saying that the game sucks. I'm just saying it's not for me. I could try to spend more hours on trying to break my previous record of 2,599,810 points on the freestyle drift.. or hand it over to someone that could be more enthused as far as really getting into the game.
I've been so stuck on "R6V2," "MGS4" and my Nintendo DS games with the likes of "Professor Layton and the Curious Village" (awesome game I might add) "Big Brain Academy", and "Super Dodgeball".
The game is just not for me..
Maybe I'm weird?
Maybe I'm different?
Or maybe I'm just trying to find a car game to fill my time while I wait for GT5
I'm throwing out an offer to anyone in the SFV that would like to pick the game up. Maybe someone that doesn't really mind all that stuff, and would just like to have the game for the game itself. Someone that loves these types of car games. It got good reviews from most video game sources. But it's just not for me.
I'll let anyone pick it up from me for $50. Local preferred, would definitely prefer the money up front.. just more convenient that way
I picked it up @ ~ 7:00pm on June 17 at the Best Buy in Porter Ranch for about $59.95 plus tax.
So basically I'm taking a $15 hit for not even a day old game. Let me know if anyone wants it.. if not then I'll just ask around my work or something. Thanks guys for listening to my rant and review

I had this game for a couple of days.
Firstly, I loved the demo and I even loved the full game at first. But I realized that after many races, the experience wasn't changing much. The cars were getting faster, but they all handled similar. The cars aren't tunable, and replays cannot be saved, which is a shame because the replays look great. The game also seemed glitchy- like during the "endurance" race my cars headlights would flicker on and off during replays. And the sound kept cutting out during load screens.
There isn't one terrible thing about this game, just a few minor problems that made me feel like my $60 could be better spent on MGS4. I couldn't see myself playing Grid again after beating it. It was fun while it lasted, although not for very long. Since Gamestop sold GRID to me in an open case, I used the opportunity to get full credit for it and exchange it for MGS4. GRID isn't a bad game, but I have a bunch of other racing games that serve me well, so there was no reason to keep it.
You know what though? I still liked the demo. My drift record on the demo is 30+ million. I think I'll DL the demo just to keep it for fun.
