Charity group to donate to from our club?

I was thinking about how many rides for charities there are, toys for tots, poker rides for various foundations, etc.

I am wondering if there is a group or groups, foundation(s), or events that we would like to give to when we are meeting. I know we dont have dues or ask for donations for our club, so I thought we could donate to a charity for our club meets.

Anyone have any ideas? I know I have ridden in Poker runs for various things. I fully support special needs (since I taught them for 9 years), anything that gives to needy children and most of all, epilepsy. I hold Epilepsy close to my heart because my the love of my life has it.

If you would like to suggest ideas, please post them here.

If you know of a charity or foundation you would like us to give to, please post info here.

If you know of an event coming up, please post the info here so we can get some plans to give ahead of time.

Thank you everyone for your consideration.

Just the fact that we are a part of this club shows that we are blessed. We should find a way to give back in some way. The amount of money we dump in our cars is nothing compared to what we could do to affect a life. Jeremy just let me know, I would be good with just about any charity.

Yes, 100%.

We have the means, we have a working roster. I say we keep it totally optional but I think this like any group platform is one we can use to do some good other than drool over our cars. Great idea J.

I planned always to keep it optional. Like Grant said, we are blessed and being a teacher, I see that there are always someone worse off than me. I try to give back in my teaching career and my military career. I feel I could never give back what has been given to me. So I thought I would make the suggestion.

Thanks for being on board fellas!

I donate significantly to www.worldvision.org and Ohio Food bank quite often.. I in no doubt would be in on this as long as it goes to a legitament charity organization. So anything would do for me just let me know and ill put in.

Sweet! Thanks guys...I just welcomed a new guy that will be from Indiana in an Email telling him how great our guys are and how so far, there hasnt been a need to impose strict guidelines, discussing behavior, image or how to act as a member of the OGC because we are all great people. Thanks again for proving it.

I am Planning to make our first Charity event our DYNO day with Slowmotion sometime in April. I think it would be a turn out.

The other thought I had was to have a continual fund we all donate into and when we are ready, our Treasurer could write a check to the Charity of choice and it can be presented to them at a large event.

Ideas...thanks for posting so far, so if you have an organization in mind, toss out the ideas here.

Dal I like the idea of the Mid Ohio Food Bank. I see kids starving and know that there familys do without at home all over where I teach. Not to mention, the Food Bank HQ is right here in Grove City.

I think it would be great for us to donate to a charity... I know I'm only an "honorary member" but IMO, I think making a donation to a children's charity is a great idea! I've been looking online for some additional charities and I found one that interested me:

Project Night Night

Yeah, I know the name sounds really cheesey... I'll go ahead and let you know what it is. Basically, they give a book, a stuffed animal, and a blanket in a tote to children 0-12 who are homeless. Here is a quote from the site "Every child who receives one of our Night Night Packages leaves the shelter owning a book which encourages reading and family bonding, a security blanket which can be cuddled, and a stuffed animal which can become a cherished friend."
I was a major dork and slept with a stuffed animal most of my life and I love to read. I can't imagine growing up without any books or without a stuffed animal so that is why this one caught my eye...
No big deal if we don't donate to it but just another option...

And I know we would like to donate straight from the OGC but I know that Chris' mom works for Yum! Brands and they will double donations made to charities but a check has to first be written to Yum! then Yum! issues the donation... Basically it's a way to make Yum! look good but gives the charity more money.. (Chris will know more about it)... Just another option...

Thanks sarah! I will consider all the options and put together a poll soon enough and see which our club would like to vote on.
