Extended warranties through Infiniti

Was wondering if anyone had done this or would recommend it?

My car was purchased in December and I didn't know this till today but the 4yr warranty on it expired in January 2010. I was wondering if it was worth picking up an extended warranty from 2 ($1000) to 5 ($2200) years.

The car is 4 yrs old with only 34.7k miles on it, so in that regard it's in decent shape.

Your thoughts?

Up to you really but these can be expensive to fix and 5 years would take you through 2015 and the car would be 9 years old.

I'd do it. $2K in repairs can come easily.

But you are throwing your money away if you modify your car. I am sure they will stick it to you if you change anything on the car... just a thought. I bought one with my car and I havent used it (70000mi) but I can fix almost anything if i have too....i wish i hadnt spent the money.

Bottom line if you do decided to, you will want to consider somethings..

1. What does it really cover. Drivetrain yes, but a clutch no? Find out exactly so you know where you stand.
2. If you do mod your car, will it void your warranty?
2a. If you can mod your car, what is covered and what isnt?
3. Our cars have great reliability scores from Consumer reports...
4. Is the gamble worth it?

It had instructions, and I got it put together. The main thing that people assisted with is putting the trimmings on the specific parts. Thanks to those that helped of course!

I never said I could fix the stuff quickly, but I'm not an idiot and can figure it out given time.
