My engine is getting replace...

I just found out today that the engine is going to be getting replaced in my 06G. Before I left I took it to the dealer to have the oil changed and to start the consumption test. My brother took it in the other day (after the 1000 mile wait) and they said that they were going to be replacing it and they would call him when it was time to bring it in.

I wanted your opinion though, while the engine and trans are out should I have them install a new clutch/pressure plate and flywheel? I noticed a few times that it was slipping after they installed the new transmission a few months ago. What set ups are you guys running and how much did you pay for it? I intend to boost later after I get home from over seas so I want something that will be good and strong and will last for a while. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I have the ACT Clutch and flywheel and I am boosted. If they will do it while its out, why not have them change it. It will save you labor later.

Congrats on getting a new motor!

How much oil did it eat in 1,000 miles?

It used about 3 quarts of Mobile1 full synthetic in 1000 miles. Way more then any turbo car that I have ever had use in the same time. But the G is still NA, so there is no confusion on that statement.

It looks like they are still going to charge me some sort of labor charge to do this but for what I'm not sure. If I didnt have a new clutch and pressure plate they would have to switch the old unit over to the new block. With the new one, I would think it would be easier, as long as the new flywheel and clutch kit comes with new bolts.

Here are my thoughts....

Buy the old engine back from the dealer and build the $hit out of it for my turbo project, then buy the clutch for the projected power that Ill be putting down.

Or, go with an ACT HDSS+STREETLITE flywheel and hope that it holds the power Ill be making.

What should I do?

Oh, g-adabout, who did you get your clutch kit from and did you get a flywheel too? I got a price from a vendor for this on here and it seems ok, just want to try and save money if I can.

He went to Slomotion motorsports. Im not sure that the dealer will sell you the motor back. I know alot of stuff gets sent back to Japan for the nissan enginers to go through. If ya call them let them know your one of us. There good guys and we get alot of our stuff through them.

+1 on both of what BuckeyeG Said...the engineers go through every warranty item to see what went wrong to fix.

and slowmotionmotorsports was where I got all my parts.
