Quote: And the GTO will be a classic in 10-20 yrs, because they aren't making anymore of this type of GTO.
Respectfully disagree.

Quote: meh, your G is faster. Stupid 4000lb pig
The G35 would get raped stock for stock, modified for modified, and 90% of the time, stock GTO for modified G. Guys at LS2GTO.com have hit high 12's in the 1/4 in their STOCK GTO's.

It doesn't weigh 4,000lbs. Stock is around 3,800. People that think they are heavy don't know about all the packaging metal left on the car and other "over the top" safety metal on the car. It's really not hard at all to get it down to 3,500lbs.

Just to give a little insight, EACH front seat in a GTO weighs 65lbs. The rears weigh 35lbs. There is a steel Y-brace under the trunk that weighs about 25lbs. Gas tank steel safety brace is about 30lbs. The front skid weighs about 17lbs. Underbody trunk linings and metal are around 20lbs. Hardware attaching all that is about 10lbs. Spare tire and jack is about 30lbs.

And there's other stuff that you can live without to shave some weight past that.

You can do the same to the G, there was a sedan memeber that stripped his G sedan to a "wet weight" of close to 3200... but then at the end of the day, unless if you are tracking your car, you should really compare weight stock for stock =)

No you can't. There isn't anywhere near as much "useless" stuff on the G35 to remove. If you strip a GTO, you can go well below 3,200 lbs. The above IS for use as a street car. If you're doing weight reduction for the track, you can go much lower. Example: all GTO's have the steel "Y" brace under the trunk used as a towing package for the Australian Monaro. I bet 100% of GTO owners wouldn't use their goats to tow anything, ever. Thus, it's completely useless. You will find a few other weight-adding things like that on a GTO. One is the front skid plate, another is the gas tank steel cage. You won't find ridiculous stuff like that on a G35.

It doesn't matter anyways. I wasn't comparing the weight of the GTO vs. the G. It was more to show that the advertised weight isn't a huge deal.
