It's bolted on. The pics from the first post are of a different bar in a different car then the chromed bar. The chromed bar has been tweaked a little design wise, so they probably do look a little different side by side.

i understand that a straight bar design like your is stronger than a bent or welded design, but from what i know its not that much stronger by comparison.
So for those of us who dont want to take the 5-mins to remove the bar and then have it rolling around in the car or have it sit somewhere at home or in garage everytime we need to use the pass through, couldnt a design like below work just as well but not require removal?
this was a 2minute attempt just to get the idea across, nothing i have planned or anything so be nice!!!!

that was my second thought as well, it would be smaller cheaper material equally if not stronger and lower profile as well.
im kind of hoping something will come to market that i like with regards to RSTB because I really lack the motivation to get my ideas made. partly because they rely on other people to physically make them as i have zippy welding skills.
