Custom Headlight Mods - L.E.D.s Orange and White + No reflectors

Here we go for now..criticism is welcome
Enjoy

White LEDs for the horizontal strip and Orange LEDs for the housing around the projector.

I'll create a writeup over the next couple of days - I took a bunch of pictures, however school comes first

writeup: for any one else brave enough to bake headlights and attempt creations of their own...

Tools needed

Philips head screwdriver (a couple different sizes and lengths)
45/90 degree angled philips head screwdriver
Flat head screwdriver
10mm socket for bumper removal -extensions can help
hot glue gun + glue
soldering iron + solder
extra wiring (i prefer to use speaker wire in most situations - it comes with two sides we can use - positive and negative)
L.E.D.s (I used 3mm - it's about all you can fit in there)
when you take the headlight apart where the plastic housing over the project is - you will need screws similar - but longer (luckily I have a parts bin with a ton of different screws - kind of like a piggy bank)
electrical tape
optional drill with 1/8" or so drill bit

I didn't get any pictures taking the bumper cover off, but basically in front of the radiator there are 6 clips holding the top part of the bumper, pop these out with a flat head. Turn the wheel all the way to the right for access to the drivers side and vice versa for the pass. side. Remove the one clip holding the plastic fender lining on both pass and drivers side. Peel lining back to access 2-3 bolts that hold the side part of the fender on. Remove these bolts. Next, go down underneath the bumper and remove about 8-10 10mm bolts. There should be one more bolt on each side just to the inner part of the headlight attaching the bumper to the fender. Once everything is off, the bumper should pop off. Next, remove the headlight bolts. There is one below the light towards the middle of the car, two one the side away from the car, one in the lining of the weather protection strip on sides of where the hood closes (peel back for access.) Undo all wiring for the lights (I left the HID black box intact and the bulb in the whole time) Once these lights are out, you can now bake them. 200 degrees for about 20 minutes, 275 for about 8-10 minutes, just check them every few to make sure the sides aren't touching anything.

Headlights out of car - I took pics just in case I needed to know where something went back together

I took apart all plastic and screws ahead of time. I believe there are 4 screws on the out edges and three plastic pieces - not including that big white plastic piece, take that off too.

Bake them

Now separate - wear gloves

Take the projector covering off with one right angled philips or like me, I used pliers to grip that little screw on the side - the next screw can be reached with a long philips (magnetic screw drivers help when putting back together)

Once apart, you can start hot-gluing the led's to the projector housing like so:

Once dry, separate your connections, positive and neg into groups

Solder your groups then run the speaker wire for pos and neg for easier connections

*test lights*

Tape up your solder so nothing shorts out

Re-assemble the housing - I needed to use those longer screws I mentioned to make the housing fit

On the other side of the headlight where the lens in, unscrew the shiny stuff and drill three holes through the front part for the other leds and glue those in place

I ran the wiring for the projector housing LEDs and the three led's in the front through the rubber grommet - just make a hole - I used a drill with a 1/8" drill bit and poked and pulled till the wires came through.

Set headlight together and re-bake until warm again so glue will aid in sticking these back together - put screws back together and hopefully everything will align back up

*test lights again*

follow directions in reverse to re-install into car.

Now for the hookup, you can put these lights on a switch or hook them up to the parking lamps, blinkers, where ever you'd like. I chose the parking lamps.

Green/white = power-positive, the cord that had the black and white is the ground. Tap into those, solder if you'd like, tape them up.

*test lights*

now do the other side

re-install bumper..

enjoy

It's really orange.. maybe hard to tell from the pics.. I kind of wanted to do blue, but I've had cops give me a hard time when I had my old car and it had red l.e.d.s in it, so I went with a legal color..

I could get onboard with the horizontal white LEDs, not really feeling the orange. A+ for ingenuity though

This just screams of high school Honda scene. But I agree, super props on your ingenuity.

This reminds me the one they did for clear corners. But i think blue led strips might be cooler, you did yourself?
