2009 Shanghai Auto Show (~100 pix, 56k no go)
I was on vacation in Shanghai, China for the last 4 weeks and during the last week of my stay, I went to the Auto Show on the 1st day of its running, April 22nd (the show runs until the 28th). This show is truly amazing to say the least. I'll summarize it in a list of words: massive amounts of people, concept cars, luxury autos, exotics, model girls, lots of hybrids and fun vehicles, and the most comprehensive auto parts trade show I've ever seen 
Before viewing the pics, keep in mind that this is not like the Tokyo Auto Salon auto show where many modified and customized autos are displayed. China's international auto show is simply a way to exemplify the growth of the country's auto industry. Car culture in China is unlike that in the U.S. (for example, the Toyota brand in China is considered luxury and expensive to afford, whereas here almost any average Joe can get one). I'll explain more in some of the pics later on.

Buick LaCrosse (built specifically by Shanghai GM for the Chinese market, shown by the new exterior rear and exhaust):

As you may know, China is reputable for producing and selling copied or counterfeit products. Check out this BYD auto with the copied Mercedes C/CLK headlights
Took a lunch break at the McD's in the show area. Can you say PACKED?
Never heard of this car brand but the logo is an obvious rip-off

Here is the auto parts trade show section I was talking about. This is absolutely ridiculous. You can find literally any part of your car in here, from timing chains and cams to electronic gauges and rubber gaskets. There are even some foreigners there looking to do business with parts vendors (seeing as how the Chinese can price the parts cheaply compared to most foreign currency, and the foreigner businesspeople can sell the parts back in their country for a healthy profit).

That's all I got out of the 5 hours spent at the show. Had a great time there and would highly recommend anyone to come to China to peep the country, culture and cars. It's like nothing else
