My Sedan Rear Lip Spoiler (pics)

I'd like some feedback on my new rear lip spoiler...photos follow . The factory spoiler is a little much for my personal taste, yet the rear didn't quite look right without it. Thus, this is my compromise, which I am quite pleased with. As a former Audi owner, I always found these spoilers tasteful on the A4's as well as the M3's.

Looks very clean and nice. Give us the 411 on where you got it, price, painted or non painted, etc.

Re: My Sedan Rear Lip Spoiler (pics)

Looks like an M3 spoiler. I had one and never put it on my car. Bodyshop said that the paint goes on first and then u have to stick the spoiler on the car while bending it. We didn't know if the paint would hold or start cracking so I never went ahead with it. Nice job tho.

It's still a G thang!!

Re: My Sedan Rear Lip Spoiler

Ok, here's the details. I purchased the spoiler on ebay from revotec for about $28 + $10 shipping. It is 45-1/8" long- which leaves about 1/8" space before trunk- as you can see in one of the photos . It is not advertised for the G35 but rather the 1992-95 Honda Civic (if you search "civic lip spoiler" on ebay, you'll find them).
It comes black, unpainted, polyurethane and is flexible. I had a buddy with a body shop prep & paint it for me. It needed light sanding, and had a couple "pin holes" in it that needed filling. My buddy painted it for free (although I gave him $50), so not sure what normal cost would be (probably not more than $100). They put plenty of flex in the paint to allow spoiler to conform to bend of trunk. It merely attaches with two-sided 3M tape (which it came with). Spoiler easily "flexes" to fit, at time of installation.

Re: My Sedan Rear Lip Spoiler

davemac: How stable is it with just using doublesided 3M tape? If I were to install the lip and then one day needed to take it off would the tape damage my paint on the trunk? For $38 for parts that's an awesome deal.

It's very stable. The tape runs the whole length of the spoiler. It's the same stuff they use for body side moldings, etc. I don't know if it would damage paint if you pulled it off...my guess would be "no". I did use rubbing alcohol on that area of trunk to remove wax and clean before installation.

Re: My Sedan Rear Lip Spoiler (pics)

why cant we have the easy way out.. why cant someone do all the work including painting and bending it or w.e the heck you have to do and charge a lil bit more.. im sure youll get at least 20 clients if you put a fair price.
