Don't get me wrong, I agree with you. I typically don't like the cartoony ones, either. With exception of course. Just sayin' that not all HDRIs have to be cartoony.

 

I think we all started out HDR as an experiment and tried to push the colors to 'out of this world' level. Eventually most of us will settle down and at least for me, Im starting to use HDR more towards bring out the details (dynamic range) that cannot be captured due to camera's limitation. With that being said I still overdid some of those shots I posted but I took them last year hehehe

Thanks. I cheated a little though since I did selective coloring on top of HDR on that pic hehehe.

 

^If you're tonemapping an image anyway, I wouldn't consider selective coloring to be cheating at all.
A couple of mine are selective coloring.

 

yup i understand that. i guess like anything, moderation is key. i do love the blues, greens, reds with it though.

This car is just rediculous, then to HDR it on top of that.. That's just too much for me to bear... I LOVE it man.. Rusty your car is GORGEOUS man. Just amazing.
