It's cyclical for me.. I'll up my photography arsenal when I'm "laying low" on the car mods.. Then I'll start up w/ the car again.. I'll see you active again in a couple "quarters"..

^Those don't look like they're true HDR. The highlights are completely gone.
They look like they're just tonemapped single exposures.

I like a middle ground when doing the HDR thing. Usually I just photoshop the HDR image with one of the untouched RAW files to give it some "pop." I might have gone a little overboard with this one though.

^I don't think that was overboard at all. Looks nice.
I've layered HDR on a regular exposure too, I've also layered two versions of the same HDR that were tonemapped with entirely different settings, there are some crazy effects.
