So I haven't gotten too much work done since the last update. I started working on getting all the tar out. So far, this has been to most boring thing I've done so far. I've got most of the major pieces off, just need to get the residue off. I'll probably end up waiting till the car is completely stripped to finish that up. Other than that, the only thing I've done is a front bumper tuck. It was pretty easy to do and I'm happy with how it came out. I still have to figure out how to deal with the gap created by the tuck now. I'm not sure I'll even bother because it's just a track car. I also have to come up with a good way to make it easily swappable.
Next major project will probably be making fiberglass replacements for the diving boards (big metal bumper piece). I'm planning on filling the license plate section and lights on the front piece. But until then, here's some pics of the progress

After Tuck:

So work has been slowing down for the past while but I've managed to get a few things done. I finished polishing the tails and filled in the lights on the bumper. Next thing I'm going to do is finish up the bumper then get started on making the mold. I made up a design for new bumper mounts to replace the heavy bumper shocks too. My machinist is going to make a pair up soon so I should have pics of them in the next update.
I also made my first parts purchase of the project. I picked up a front pair of E36 M3 spindles for the 5-lug swap. Paid about $35 each so I was pretty happy about that. Next parts purchase will probably just be more parts for the 5-lug swap. I still need to get control arms, hubs, BBK, trailing arms, etc. I'm hoping I can have all the parts for the front by the end of August.
I also started thinking about what wheels to get. At first, I was looking at getting a cheap set of custom Diamond Racing steels. I'm not sure how I feel about using lug-centric wheels on the car though. The other possible option would be some Meisters but I'm not sure if I want to spend that much on wheels. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking about getting 17x10-11ish". Anyways, here are some pics.
