hey guys, girlfriend and i took the plunge and got a Nikon D50...been shooting some photos the past few days starting to get used to it (still an amateur at best). tonight i finally got some pics of the G with the new DSLR...all at night-the hardest to shoot with my old point and shoot.
what do ya guys think? All straight from the camera, too buys taking pics to do any photoshop work.
PS: I love the D50!

clear pics but the last 3 lighting is off... you could of adjusted the white balance so the street lights wouldnt make everything more orange in the pic.

Im picking up a D70 soon.

thx guys.....
ratedxmarcel--yes i know, both shot in different locations, first two from quality lights by a store, the last 3 were crappy street lights. i didnt know how to adjust the wb , and didnt get into photoshop yet with them. why the D70 and not just get the D50 for less?
Jetleaf--yes i was using a tripod, usually 4 second shutter speed used, i am not that steady!

What ISO were you shooting at? There is very little noticeable noise. I like Canon, I use a 1D mkIIn but the low light quality of yours is looks pretty good.

yea they really are close to the same but the main thing I like about the D70 is that it has spot metering mode and the D50 doesnt...also a few other minor updates...

wow, thx for the comments guys yeah i love this camera.
as for the info...all were taken with my D50 in manual mode on a tripod.
the first pic for instance:
Exposure: 2 sec
Aperture: f/9
Focal Length: 18 mm
Exposure Bias: 0/6 EV
ISO Speed: 200

if i can remember right, all were taken around 2-4 second exposure and around that aperature. all were taken using iso of 200 i believe. from what i remember---the lower the iso the better for night shots.
the only sucky thing is i was worrying about all the other settings and forgot to worry about the white balance...especially under the yellow lights...
something to work on for next time.
here is my flickr page where you can see the exact specs of each if you're intereseted:

not as good as canon 20D, but cheaper. you could really benefit from a good lens.
