I just changed the gear oil in the R200V limited slip differential and the 6-speed manual transmission in my '04 G35 at 29,000 miles. I filled both with Royal Purple Max-Gear SAE 75W-90.

I feel that the cold-start friction is higher (shift action) than with Nissan fluids, but I estimate that the friction is lower, once the oil is warmed up, to liberate (free up) somewhere between 5 and 10 horsepower.

I was looking for a GL-4 and GL-5 rated oil that had good corrosion inhibitors and had LSD friction modifiers and Royal Purple had a product that met all of my requirements.

Anyway, I am very happy with the performance. The shifting action is definitely smoother, and I am happy to have a product with upgraded synthetics with corrosion protection. The car feels slightly quicker - noticeable, but not dramatic. Overall, a recommended performance modification with the only down-side being cost.

NASA approved!
