NISMO Grounding Kit

I found this grounding kit on eBay. It was about $40 and included star ground, and all hardware and cables. It's not the same quality as gordgee's but looks seemed to do the trick.

Re: NISMO Grounding Kit

It's a definite knock off. Looks kind of cool, does it work? Not sure but it dresses the engine compartment up nicely.

Re: NISMO Grounding Kit

You have to bastardize the star ground to get it to work, it's supposed to go on the battery terminal. Couldn't figure out how to get that to work.

Re: NISMO Grounding Kit

Grounding Kits are more for engine dressing, slightly smoother idling more than anything. HP gains? Negligible... probably as good as stickers on your window...

Did I mention that it looks really cool when you pop your hood? It's still a cool Mod IMO...

Re: NISMO Grounding Kit

I was thinking about getting the grounding kit. Ive heard good things, like idle and shifting. While others say it wont do crap to my 6MT.. The tech at infiniti told me that the car is grounded really bad and to get the nismo kit.. Any feedback would be appreciated

Re: NISMO Grounding Kit

Would that affect the warrenty on the car and does it do anything with the gas mileage?

Re: NISMO Grounding Kit

It should have NO affect on the warranty since ALL you're doing is "grounding" the electrical paths of the car better. Signal path cleaner... That's all... and mainly for looks.

If a dealer tells you that your grounding wire is affecting your warranty... tell him to shove it cause that would be complete B.S.!!

Re: NISMO Grounding Kit

Measure the ground on your car at the MAF which is the component most susceptible to ground loops. If you have a bad ground, the MAF will send the wrong voltage to the ECU. Do a before and after. I did, and found absolutely zero difference. Also measured shift time, start time, idle speed, RPM at shift points, decibels and found zero difference before and after a ground kit. This kit was sold be InsaneAmine and is indiscernible to me from Gordgee's kit.

Re: NISMO Grounding Kit

This is where the point is missed. The theories about why 95% of users find a noticeable difference (not scientifically surveryed) has nothing to do wit"bad" grounds. And how can measuring air flow or difference before and after tell you much. The ignition is possibly working better but you are looking for something to be wrong with the MAF reading while assuming a bad ground exists. You wont find much there and it proves nothing that you didn't. My tires aren't handling better because of the wires but there is no expected correlation between the 2.

Re: NISMO Grounding Kit

That kit's not even a knock-off. A friend has the NISMO kit from Japan, and unless they changed it almost totally, the E-Bay kit doesn't look remotely like the real thing. The real NISMO kit doesn't have a "star ground", and cost $200 plus shipping!

Re: NISMO Grounding Kit

Hey, it's YOU again, Mr. 'Fish!

Still trying to convince others that it's all about measuring an electrical difference. Maybe you're trying too hard and this limits your ability to see that it's a paradigm shift that's required. With all due respect, sometimes what is needed is to realize that a certain issue or problem needs to be looked at differently in order to see a solution. After all, without the invention of the telescope, and while enduring the ridicule of the wisdom at the time, the world would still be flat and the Earth would be the center of the Universe!

Before a theory can be proven, a hypothesis must be tested and re-tested. If it still doesn't fit emperical evidence (My GroundingGear Impressions and My Review Thread), then the original hypothesis must be modified and/or discarded, and another used. This is one of the fundamentals of science.

As a physician, my life would be much different if I had to operate (actually my collegues) under the less than sterile conditions that "doctors" accepted a century ago. Many laughed at that time about the existence of organisms that we couldn't see and some postulated caused infections.
