^There's 4 bolts connecting it to the rear diff and then the shaft will slide out of the transmission. Its a fairly easy install.

Yup, it's just remove and replace. Nothing hard at all. Unbolt the 4 bolts at the diff, unbolt the mid-shaft "brace" I guess you'd call it, it's like 5 bolts total though.... then it just slides out of the transmission.

When you're putting the new one in use red locktite on the 4 diff bolts and torque them appropriately (I don't remember what the specs are, but when in doubt in this case you're probably safe to hit it with an impact, but knowing and using the actual torque specs is always preferred).

It'll probably take you as long to jack up the car / get it in the air as it will to actually swap the driveshafts.

You may have to unbolt your exhaust if you have a true dual.

Good point - forgot about the exhaust ^^ I changed out the exhaust at the same time as the drive shaft so it was already out of the way.

Also may need to use the e-brake / car in gear / park to keep the diff and wheels from spinning while you break loose the diff side bolts and re-tighten them on the new shaft.

This is a great thread, even though it's a couple months old!

I have to ask, does anyone know the proper torque specs for the bolts on the driveshaft???? I saw it mentioned above, but want to make sure I get the right ones before.....................

......I INSTALL MY DRIVESHAFT NEXT WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Picked one up in early October and finally got around to installing it today (almost forgot I even had it lol) I managed to install it without dropping the borla catback... It was kind of a PITA. Anyways I'm just confirming what has been said by others. Improves torque in the low gears and for some reason shifting seems easier too. Down shifting feels much better with it as well. It makes a slight ringing sound in 1st and 2nd gears when accelerating but no weird vibrations at all. Anyone else have the ringing?

The only thing I noticed is that I have a lots of vibration at 130-140mph (normal speeds on the German autobahn). It may be the driveshaft doing it, but I also had fresh tires put on (Michelin PSS). I didn't get the vibrations with the OEM driveshaft at autobahn speeds. I have other things to rule out, but the only major change was the driveshaft. Maybe installing the OEM driveshaft once I get off my lazy ***.

It gets annoying that I can only go 130mph due to vibrations.

CF is quieter due to the harmonics of materials. Is the aluminum one a Driveshaft Shop? They are the most trustworthy out there

Mine was probably from a different manufacturer but I've hit those speeds a few times and I haven't noticed any vibrations.

No unwanted vibrations for me it's very rare that I get up those speeds but occasionally I might.California freeways and my suspension aren't really good combination for super high speed ****

Daily driving has no vibrations, ringing, or other inconveniences. I have the exact same as Bill - from PI in Cali.

Ok so the ringing is starting to bug me lol. I didn't think it was too bad till I drove next to a brick wall with the windows down and could hear it loud and clear. Sounds pretty bad. It sounds like something is rubbing the shaft as it rotates (and yes I've already went under and checked to see if in fact something was. Its clear) I noticed it only does it under load. Once the clutch is in its quiet. My best thought is that I didn't grease the end that goes into the trans when I installed it, figured there was enough still there from the stock one. Should I pull it and lube that sucker up? I can't think of anything else to try... Is the shaft supposed to go in a certain way? Looks like I'm the only one with the prob. Anyone have any ideas?

I've only taken it to 85mph with the shaft so far and had no vibrations.

It's likely just the sound properties of aluminum. It's probably not perfectly balanced. I wouldn't bet on being able to make the sound go away. Hope you can though
