Helix hi-flow cats
#41
I purchased the helix HFC's a while back but never installed them due to the fact that they hit the floorpan. So instead, I went with UTR's new Metal HFC's, picked them up during their recent sale. These fit fine, no hitting of the floorpan and they come with a support bracket. Quality is nice and butt dyno says there's some gain.

There is room for this because the area where the cat goes is double-walled sheet metal with space between so you end up having to dent it in a little to create a 1/4 inch gap. Hopefully Helix will fix this problem moving forward so that it is no longer a problem.
I've heard a lot about Helix's bad fitment issues. Check out any other car forums, such as www.evolutionm.com, and you'll see what I mean. This seems to be yet another example. As for the new re-design they are supposedly coming out with, it's supposed to have smaller cats? Note that the smaller the cat, the less chance you have of actually passing smog! In fact, most of these aftermarket "high-flow cats" are not enough to pass smog here in CA. Chances are, you'll have to swap on your entire stock setup to pass anyways.
