Thumbs up Z-tube and K&N Filter on my 05 G Sedan (auto)

Just installed my Z-tube and K&N filter. Removed the engine cover, loosened the clamps (all three), and removed OEM tube. Inserted new filter into the stock airbox, and put the Z-tube back in.

My feelings:
1) Ease of installation-1 out 5 (1 being the easiest)
2) Time of installation-1 out 5 (took about ten minutes)
3) Sound-5 out 5 (5 being extremely satisfied)
4) Performance-5 out 5 (exactly what I was hoping for)-the RPMs climbs faster and smoother, in my opinion the 3500+ range benefited the most, especially when accelerating from 30-60....

Overall, it gets a 5 out 5. For a total of $125 including the Z-tube and K&N filter.

Good to hear - I'll be doing this exact thing this weekend on my 05 coupe. Along with the 3/8 plenum spacer.

Is the K&N worth its money performance wise? Or should I just stick with the stock filter with my ztube?

people have done the plenum and the spacer....

it is a declining return, as Tony explained in a thread.
The diff between the 3/8" spacer and the 1/2" is like 1.6HP
The Crawford already having the hieght, adding a spacer does virtually nothing

FYI it only adds height/volume for the front bank of cylinders.

No one has done a good dyno comparison to be able to draw that conclusion.

I have no idea about whether K&N can account for any performance, but just the fact that its re-usable makes it worth 50 bucks.

Several ppl have done both. I recently read a post where someone did both and I asked why? The member received one of the products free. Whish I would get something I wanted free. I just get undesirables for free. Seems crazy to me. One or the other should do the job just fine. Can you even close the hood with both installed?
WOOH HOO! I'm at post 1800!

Did the Z tube and K&N filter today, well worth the time and $. Instructions were great thanks. Next on the list is a BORLA TD Cat back Exhaust. Grounding kit too

You guys finally talked me into it. Just ordered the Z tube for my '05 Coupe as well. The mod bug has begun! Only took two weeks too...

I have the K&N airfilter, but no Z-Tube. I think I adding that this week.
Is the sound going to be more "throaty"?

Will it help with gas mileage?
