Wow...the hks sounds really throaty and nice. Is that just the muffler? Totally different feel from the coupe's sound (although I think I still like the coupe's a little more) but overall it's neat! Then when I go back to the original clip (pre z-tube...that sounds so weak)
Regarding drone...not sure why some people hate it...I love it. That drone noise at around 1500 to 2000 rpm...is my favorite.
Andycon, does the exhaust gets noisy when you drive it at night?

yeah, it's neat comparing the original sound (1st clip) against the modded version - the last one is much deeper, and has a real growl/roar.
On the "drone" issue; keep in mind my exhaust setup is stock with the exception of the HKS sport muffler (muffler only). Even with this, I do hear a slight drone, at around 3,000 but nothing that bothers me - the "drone" is because it's louder.
In normal driving, it's slightly louder than stock (hence the drone), but as soon as you get on it, that's when it starts to roar.
I like it. I have a coupe mid-pipe on the way, and I am really interested to hear the difference. I am hoping for slightly better breathing, a deeper burble on idle, but no noticable increase in the drone.
I am also looking to shed a few pounds - the stock mid-pipe resonator is enormous!

Thank you very much for the sound files. Really appreciate your efforts. The HKS rear sounds mean. I like it.
I am however a bit concerned about the drone. I want to get a rear section and not pickup a drone along with it.
So far, ive heard the Stillen and HKS now have drones. The only one that supposedly does not have a drone is the Nismo rear section (WELDINA REAR MUFFLER).
I'm ready to pull the trigger but what I end up with is still undecided.

Hey Papa, see if these new sound clips help you make up your mind - not a hint of drone. The only time I get any kind of drone is when you are slightly accelerating, even then I would just call it louder, not necessarily drone.
Here's some updated sound clips from inside the car

Are you sure you dont work for HKS?
The rear section sounds totally mean. Very aggressive at WOT which is what I am looking for.
I use my car as my commutter and thats why I want to stay as far away from a drone as possible. I am still leaning towards getting the HKS. I'm gun shy like that
Im going to give it a few days (of listening to your sound bites) then go for something....probably the HKS.
I will let you know what I end up with.
