Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to alert you guys to stay away from a particular "discounted" tire shop located on Jamacha Rd. in San Diego. Suffice it to say I had a horrible experience with them. I brought my car in last week to have a tire replaced due to a bubble in my sidewall. They ended up breaking my valve stem adapter as well as my TPMS. On their behalf it is a difficult job since the adapter/tpms is located so close to the edge of the wheel. (AME Shallen MX) They apologized and told me they would fix everything as soon as the parts came in.

Well I took it in today and lo and behold there are scratches, indentations, and a nick that looks as if someone took a chisel to the wheel. There is a piece of metal protruding from where the nick is. The manager Rich said he personally worked on the car and that the nick was there before he worked on it. He decided not to notify me believing I already knew of the problem.


Seeing how upset I was, he said he would have someone call me tomorrow to clean the wheel up on their dime. Now I do not know what "clean up" means but these guys better fix all the imperfections on my wheel. We shall see. I will post better pics tomorrow when there is daylight to show the hack job these guys did.

Before I left, the manager pretty much indicated/said he never wanted to work on my car again due to the high level of difficulty it is to replace my tires. I told him no problem and that I would not be bringing any of my cars to his store again.

Granted they are somewhat trying to make things right, but the fact that they tried to hide the fact they jacked up my wheel is what has me so upset.

So guys if you have aftermarket wheels with TPMS STAY AWAY from these guys!

That sucks bro. Hopefully they make it "right". Since I have had my G I have only went to Grant. The only other time I went someplace else(Discount Tire O'side) they broke 2 lugs off and told me a great shop to get them repaired at.

 

Sorry to hear that. I would be crazy pissed too if someone screwed up my wheels. I hope they fix everything they messed up. If not, then you should give their corporate HQ a call. Most places seem terrified of their corporate office.

Well the mobile repair guy came by today and now the wheel has to go to their shop to be stripped and refinished. He was able to fix the nick, gash, and scratches but fvcked up the clear coat on the lip. The lip now has this cloudy hazy look to it. His boss is supposed to give me a call once he gets back from SEMA to set something up. I know it's going to be a b*tch for them to fix since the wheels are 2 piece welded. Anyone here ever have a welded wheel refinished? Do they need to take it apart and weld it back together? I am worried that this will lower the integrity of the wheel.

 

i had pretty much the same thing happen to me @ a discount tires here.. long story short and after months of dreadful waiting, i got a whole new wheel..
granted they were PIAA's and not AME's, they had to replace a $500 wheel.
