Hood Advice

Got in a little fender bender. Did not want to bore everyone with my sad story and pictures of another rebuild, but I now need a little advice.

I had to replace my front bumper. Elected on the Kuruma Z. Also bought Impul sides and a Chargespeed Rear. Updated to Projector headlights and had to make a decision whether to repair my hood or replace it. I decided on a pretty aggressive fiberglass hood. Don't get on me about the daily driver thing or the water in the engine compartment, just give me your impression of the hood.

I was thinking of filling the openings closest to the cowl. Keep in mind my car is CB and I was debating painting the entire hood just CB, or accenting the vents in black.

Give me your thoughts.

Thanks Chris

Great choice Chris. This is my particular favorite hood.
I wouldn't fill a vent and as far as paint scheme, it all depends on your theme. I'd opt for CB and maybe gloss/satin vents (depending on your theme)

Did you recognize Toms office? That's where the hood is sitting. Wanna meet at Toms on Friday? Gonna go over there and go over our plan.

Of course lol. I've practically lived there for a little over a month. I'm down to meet up. What time?

I would personally fill the upper vents, just to give it a different look. But that is my ocd.

Did this hood not come with rain guards? I have the same one. I put mesh in the upper vents and painted it body color. The rain guards are installed underneath so it isn't like a giant hole either. Here's are some crappy cell phone pictures I took awhile back of mine.

There is only one beef with this hood that I cannot absolutely stand, and its the fact that the fiberglass resin is wafer thin. It flexes when you put slight pressure on it, almost feels like it was made from a plastic bottle. Had I known that all Hikkata Dori products were like this, I probably won't have bought it. For the retail price on what HD is charging, it is NOT worth it. I'm just lucky I bought this for $400 from a member on this forum.

And when I test fitted a CF gialla grill for some laughs.

Chris, was going to head over to Tom's Early afternoon. If one time is better than another for you, let me know.

konxeptionz, as far as the rain guards, Im not sure, was supposed to come with them, but I had it shipped to the body shop, so I did not unpack. Guess I will find out tomarrow. I think those pictures you posed are the winner. Im thinking Satin black in the vents. And its too funny that I am installing all the same mods you already have. What area are you in. Im in Palm Beach. Well have to get together for a ride-out or something.

Keep the ideas comming. Should be a couple more days till I have to commit to a game plan.

Thanks.

Chris

Hey man, glad I could help.

And I'm not in Florida, I live in Houston, Texas. I was trolling around and saw that you had the same hood (or similar) as me and wanted some painting advice so I thought I'd chime in on your thread. Figured I could help you since it was Patrick (patman) that helped me with my paint scheme. I pretty much copied him. Here is what he originally sent me.

https://g35driver.com/forums/5116433-post108.html

I did the vents black and the rain guards body color, just like how he had his car before he painted it his candy red / orange.

Edit: If you have any other questions, just PM me. And let me know how your hood works out for you. I like the way it looks, makes my car look mean... I just hate the crappy wafer thin fiberglass.
