Talking My Custom Valentine 1 concealed display.. w/pix..

Hey guys, I got bored last night and decided to mess around with my extra V1 concealed display. I hate wires showing in the car, so I have everything tucked away (except my concealed display because of the badly placed power adapter).

I fixed that problem last night and I'm very happy with the results. I started off with the intent to change the LED colors for the different radar bands, but had to give up on that because I couldnt find any place that carried the matching LEDs. I'm still working looking for them to change later.

It took a few hours to do it all... mainly because I was driving around trying to find those stupid LEDs for a long time. I've come up with a very nice setup for the power cord to plug in from the back, but it took a lot of dremeling to the insides of the casing for everything to fit well.

(Click on the pictures to see larger ones and descriptions)

What do you guys think?

I'm going to work on another design possibly so that the power adapter is completely inside the display and only the power cord will come out from the back. I hate wires, that is the main reason for the mod

ps it works great and it is secure

very creative, but its weird having it at an angle, and muting it must be weird since you have to stick your hand through the steering wheel. i stuck my concealed display in the secondary air vent thats left of the cluster.

I'll try to type one up this weekend, but it is somewhat difficult to know/explain exactly what pieces of plastic to dremel on the insides. The framework is upside down and boared for the reverse. Structurally it is just as solid if not even more solid than before.

I thought about doing that, but I didnt want to cut up my vent.

The angle is temporary.. it will be mounted straight.. reaching through the wheel is no biggie. it is also a nonpermenant solution..unlike cutting the vent.

I mute mine a lot so I don't like that location. It just looks too out of place for me.

hmm interesting... I may move it somewhere else, but when I tried it out with the different vent positionings, my steering wheel blocked some of its view.

we'll see... the thread was primarily to feel out whether ppl liked the modded display hiding the wires to generate interest

Thanks sjc1789

Does anyone know where I can get this piece.. the plastic trim between the steering wheel and gauge cluster.... it is highlighted in red...

I would like to modify it so that the display comes out of that at an angle
