Newb ?, Help
Hi! Everyone,
New here, just made my way from newcelica.org. I have my eyes set on a 04' and 05' coupe. Is there any difference between the two? performance? looks?
Both cars ar 6MT, pretty identical, just wanted what you guys have to say before I make the purchase.
Thanks

oh yeah... '05-'06 don't come with brembos...
sport tuned suspension is not standard.. it's optional..
but with sport tuned suspension, u get a sports front bumper(for '06 only).. looks hot!!

I had an 04 Dg 6mt but traded in for 05 ob 6mt. I like the 05 better because bettter suspension, INTERIOR, bigger rims more HP but less torque =(.

Wait, the suspension weren't the same from the 04 6MT vs. the 05 6MT? Didn't they both have sport suspension standard? Maybe this was only for the coupe?
So, I've been in all year Sedans and if you are after that, for sure get the 05+. The 03-04 were so horrible on the inside; Plastic parts everywhere. Also, for the Sedan, the brakes are horrible; They were so grabby but didn't stop any better (or worse) then the 05+ (at least for the sedans).
As for the coupe, same as above for the interior but the engine gain 20+ HP, better engine components (rods, etc.), upgraded standard brakes (lost the Brembos from the 03-04s (though unless you track your car, you won't miss this and you can always upgrade to way better brakes with BBKs, if you do track), lost some torque (however, getting an MREV+ will solve this and gain more HP and Torque over the 03-04), better looking instrument panels, matching stitching on the steering wheel (6MT only I believe), Bigger and nicer rims. Phew...there are other things too but you get the point.

I remember when I bought my 05 6MT coupe, the salesman said "Oh, we don't really have any good deals right now on the 05 6MT Coupe, but we DO have a nice black 04 6MT that I will give you 500 less invoice". I replied "No thanks." If all you are getting are the Brembos and extra torque (which I knew can be easily corrected with something better, with money of course) but can't replace the shotty interior and everything else, why on earth go for the 04 (also, it came in black, which require way too much time to maintain for me). Easy choice
I was confronted with the same situation: A 2004 6MT black/black with 20K miles or a 2005 6MT black/beige with 10K miles. Both had aero packages and were in good shape. The 2004 had navigation and the 2005 did not.
I drove both extensively and noticed no difference in power. The non-revups (03-04) feel faster at lower rpms, but the rev-up gave more on high end of the rpm range. At the time, I was informed that the non-revups hit 60 in 5.5 versus the 2005 in 5.9, but again, I could not tell a difference.
The decision for me was very easy. I saved $3500 total / $65 per month for 5 years of financing (=$3900) to get the 2004 instead of the more expensive 2005 and I got Brembos and Navigation! I am very content with the interior in the 04 and in fact, like the center dash counsel better than the 05's. With 27K now, I haven't had a problem with the Brembos. They are a high performance brake package and as such, especially when used hard (which they are designed for), one should be expected to maintain them at a more frequent interval than a standard run-of-the-mill brake. This isn't a "problem" as some 05+ owners may have you believe. The cost of more frequent pad / rotor replacement is offset in the tire purchase for the 2004 18 inch rims versus the 2005's 19 inch rims, the latter of which are more expensive. Expect to replace the high performance tires on average of 30K miles on either car.
At the time of purchase, the Brembos and Navigation weren't as important to me as the aero package and the 6MT. What was most important to me was the $65/month I saved (a financed saving of $3900). After purchase, I'm glad I got the Brembos because they grew on me, mostly for the looks, as I haven't taken it to the track to realize their full benefits.
When its all said and done, you have to weigh your costs and benefits, always keeping in mind that there is always going to be another model out there that's better, newer, or has more features. The bottom line is that you have to be content on what you get, as a vehicle purchase is not cheap. There's no wrong choice here, all G's are great cars with a great look and solid drive train. No lemons here.
