Window: Regulator or Motor problem?

Hey I did a search noticed a few different answers on my issue.

When I roll my window up all the way, most of the time I cannot roll it back down, it is stuck and takes a few door slams to get the window function to work again.

As well when I auto-up it would roll back down a little bit.

The window motor still seems somewhat strong, is it just the regulator messed up?

I'm out of warranty so this is why trying to get help here.

If I do not put my window all the way closed, essentially leaving a small crack, the window will always be able to roll down, sound like just a regulator problem maybe?

Thanks

A few months ago, I had the exact same problem (for the first time and I have the first generation). I performed the Reset procedure and everything has been working fine since. I might just be buying time, but it doesn't cost anything to try...

for you guys that did the reset, the manual and other posts say not to move the window up or down using the auto button.. so how do you move it up or down.. does the reset switch actually control it? are you pushing it up/down with your fingers? i haven't disassembled yet, but have same prob. what am i missing? thanks.

You may also want to check the relay switches..I dont know exaclty what its called...but the last time I took my car in to have the passenger side looked at...I replaced the window motor and came to find out that the master switch wasnt allowing power to the passenger side..they had to replace it...all was good...now I am having the exact same issue you are above on my car....sometimes the window will roll up and down..sometimes it wont..I have to slam the door about 2-3 times maybe 4 and it will come back on temporaily.....mine has done the go haflway up and start going back down again thing....

I've been told that it's a common problem for the regulators to go out in the 04 6mt. Mine had a new motor put in it fairly recently but is having trouble going back up. I'm going to try the regulator and see what happens. I'll update after

I had a similar issue. The motor brushes are likely worn out. You can spend $4 at a hobby store and replace them or $150 for a new motor.
I struggled with my window motor for a while, i tried cleaning it, resetting it etc. several times. Finally I replaced the brushes and it works like new.

I went ahead and replaced the motor and the regulator and at first it was still having trouble going back up. I removed the nuts/bolts holding the regulator in place by accessing through the holes in the housing panel and rolled the window back up easily. The window rolling up adjusted the regulator to a different position, after which I reinstalled the nuts/bolts and now it works fine. I think the regulators have a tendency to fall out of place and it can be fixed by simply by pulling off your interior door panel and removing the regulator nuts/bolts through the housing panel holes, rolling window down and up, and then just reinstalling everything back. (The housing panel holes are covered by a black circular material that needs removed to access).

Smile Windows all fixed for free!

I have a 2003 G35 4-door. The windows worked very intermittently. Here's what I did to get my windows working...

I pulled the window regulator module off of the driver's side arm rest (It pries off with a dull knife or other such non-destructive tool). I then disconnected the cable from the module and removed the three screws that secure the window buttons to the electronic circuit board.
I then took my air compressor and blew the dust out of the module. After that I manually operated the white nylon sliders back and forth about 20 times each to remove any oxidation on the contacts.
I put everything back together and viola, all windows now work!
Total time to fix--15 min or less.
Hope this works for you.
