Even though you are changing the wheel size from 18" to 19" you should always aim at keeping the same stock tire height within 1-2%. This is crucial to preserving the speedometer reading and gear ratio.

If you want to lower for visual purposes only, a nice set of springs will be just fine.

Rear TIRES 275/30/19

Rear TIRES 245/40/18
You actually went from 25.1" to 25.8" on the fronts and 25.7" to 25.5" on the rears, so your tire size is fine. You could have also gone with 275/35/19 on the rears to give you a little more sidewall.

Go ahead and look for some springs or coilovers to close that gap.

If you are lowering the car strictly for aesthetics, then install a good set of springs. They are considerably less expensive then coilovers.

Are any better than others? Ive read many conflicting reports (very confusing).

Also, many have reported alignment problems and ride quality sacrifice on all the products Ive looked at? Are these complaints isolated-due to improper installation-or competing vendors slamming each other--or a little of all--Im really in the dark here? Cost is not the major factor..I just want to do it right the first time..

Im looking for a similar if not identical ride to stock with no alignment issues and a lower profile 1-2 inches to please the eye--remove the gap...you know what I mean..Please advise if these goals are unreasonable..

THANKS FOR ANY INPUT!!
I have not heard anything bad about Tein springs. Take a look at your options there. Some people love thier Eibachs, but I've heard some complaints as well. There are more options, I just can't think of them right now.

As far as alignment goes, the more you lower your car the worse the alignment issues. Any more than a inch and you will probably have alignment numbers out of spec.

I lowered my sedan 1.5" and the alignment shop was able to get everything (caster, toe) into spec except my camber in the front. I am -0.1 degrees on the left and -0.5 degrees on the right. After 5k miles on my S-03's I can see slightly more wear on the inside edges of the front tires. It's not that severe, but I will probably end up getting a set of camber adjustable a-arms for the front.
