thin metal = easy bends. That is why reps are always a crap shoot.

Bending of the lips can be caused from the material being too thin along with cracking or breaking.

We now use a new factory that uses a stronger grade of aluminum and a bit thicker to avoid any damages. However, the more material there is the more weight.

Potholes and curbs can be an issue as well. Although most wheels are built to withstand them, there are certain amount of impact that will damage the wheels so it varies.

The cracked wheel was verified as another manufacture from a ton of posts I read. Also they resigned their wheels and the cost has gone up. Lastly I bent a Volk TE37 TA on a pot hole, there are a lot more reps on the road then gens and the reps are dailied more. Any wheel can bend. I have 2 bend 18's on a factory 70k car, my BMW 550i sport. Any wheel can be damaged. the other guy mentioned a car hit his rim!

So anyways they are easily replaceable, I wasn't happy trying to replace a discontinued Volk so now I look for affordable nice wheels.

BTW I stripped the clear on 1 and have been testing some polishing. Here is a shot. I only polished 6" on the lip, which is the shiniest part below. I am finishing all of them tomorrow.

Aircraft stripper. Then use wd-40 as your wet sand lubricant. 800-1000-1500-2000 then 0000 steel wool then jewelers rouge on a drill powered polishing pad, then mothers polish, then 3 coats of optibond.
It is a mirror shine, the first set of pics where just a 2000 and polish test spot. The most recent is 3-4 hours per rim, finger bleeding process. The hardes part is sanding out the grooves in the machined lip so it's flat.

Yeah man It does take for ever
But I know a better way

Lift the rear of ur car up
Mount ur new wheels on
Put ur car on 3rd gear.
While spinning start with a 400 grip and work ur self up till 2000 lol .
20 minutes per wheel
