How does one install a airbag to this? Is it something the everyday man can do, or shops only?

had a shop do mine, I know you have to disconnect the battery so it doesn’t deploy.

If I remember correctly it's just two screws under plastic caps either side of the steering wheel that hold the airbag in place. With those removed the airbag comes straight out after disconnecting two wires. Of course, make sure the battery is disconnected and pump the brake - to drain any residing power - and give it 5 mins or so before continuing. One nut holds the wheel to the spline, easily removed with the wheel lock engaged and a breaker bar.

Why? Just disconnect the battery and remove it. It's a completely separate piece from the wheel. Very easy. It's not gonna just "go off".
