don't know about Robertson (where is it?)
and 3rd street? do you mean 3rd street over at Santa Monica?
thanks anyways
souch coast plaza in costa mesa, 3rd st promenade/santa monica pier...there are a lot of nice restaurants with a great view in laguna beach or newport. the OC fair is also going on right now - not sure if you're into carnivals, but i figured i'd throw it in there anyways

anyways,,
now I'm trying to find out which place is better
South Coast Plaza or Irvine Spectrum?
There are shops on Robertson right by the Beverly Center.
In terms of shopping, south coast is your best bet. Fashion island and irvine spectrum are both outdoors which is nice, but should also be taken into account with the heat. The spectrum does offer more food choices as far as I know.
