Haha...

Well I can't find anything on google. So I'm clueless. I need an actual statute or something that states if it's legal or not. I dont want to risk anything.

Just searched the DMV website, skimmed through the Exhaust section and didn't find anything except for loudness and pollution, but didn't say anything about high flow cats. Unless there is another section.

HFC became illegal since January 1st.
Thats why Fast Intentions doesnt sell them to anyone in Cali. Thats what I have herd, but Cali is gay like that. I also herd your car will be impounded and get a fine of 3k.
I think its because of the pollution caused the HFC, since cali has a lot of cars.
I also herd if a vendor is caught selling the, he will be fined 13k.

I got to see if this is really true but i herd a few people getting tickets because of HFC lately in cali.

Hi flow cats have always been illegal to use in any state. But starting 09, they will also be illegal to manufacture and sell in CA.

People could have gotten a hefty fine and punishment before 2009 with hi flow cats. They just aren't as obvious as test pipes which is why you usually don't hear people getting in trouble for them.

Like I have always said, if you are going to do something illegal, do it the right way. Test pipes FTW

So how can a cop tell if you have high flow cats or test pipes? Just if you floor it or are going uphill? I assume at a normal cruising speed on a flat surface it won't be too loud.

I know with my muffler delete it's quite loud and I've gotten pulled over it (though the cop claimed it was my "illegal intake"). I was also going uphill at a pretty steep incline so I was around 3.5k rpm.

Test pipes have a very obvious smell from all the fumes coming out (depending on the load and throttle). For high flow cats, its not really obvious. But if a cop pulls you over for having a loud exhaust, don't be surprised if he takes a look under the car with their little reflector mirrors.

They are ****'s when it comes down to modified vehicles

I think I'll stick to high flow cats since I drive around Glendale and there's several motorcycle cops. I guess that's a drawback for working next to the police station. I'm gonna see if I can find out from one of the cops to see what the fine is.
