Guys I was wondering how many of yall are driving in and around houston without a front license plate. What have your experiences been like? Any trouble from the cops? Thanks.

 

I drove mine off the lot without a front plate and have never put it on. I've had my car since June 2003 and have never gotten a ticket for it. I have been pulled over for speeding and that's all they got me for.

 

same here.......drove off the lot without the front plate and no problem (so far)....been about 6 months......but I know a guy who bought a 2005 1 month ago and he has already been given a warning about the front plate missing......my cop buddy says it is not a moving violation and if you do get a ticket.....put the plate on (i have seen a temporary clip solution here somewhere), get it signed off and it should only be a $10 fine...........then off it goes!

 

My wife's MCS doesn't have one and we've had it for 1.5 years now. GL.

 

never had one on any of my cars - and had about 20 tickets, but none for that. no way am I putting it on my G

 

I've lived/drove in Houston since I was licensed and I have never had a front license plate on my car (don't now either) and I've never gotten a ticket. Of course, this doesn't mean I won't get one tomorrow...

I've never had my Texas plate on my car. I bought a chrome plate w/ the Infiniti Icon on it. I've been pulled over once and was not given a ticket. Also, I carry my front plate in the trunk.

I've had my car since mid December '03. Border Patrol does not ask questions nor the cop in Robstown .

 

At a risk of jinxing myself as well...i don't have one and i've had mine for about 6mths now....i was told it's not a problem especially since most "luxury" cars can get away without having them too. I think they just pull over those rice burners that dont' have them and have really dark tint....the shady looking ones... So i'm sure you'll be ok

My G sedan has a Stillen Muffler on it. When that things arrived, I opened to box and saw how big that thing was. It scared the heck out of me!! I thought it was going to sound like a rice kids car. Thank the lord that its sounds bone stock.

Since I keep my car very clean, I do not think the cops notice it much. Well, I really do not drive it much. Two years and 5 months, it has less then 21k miles on it.

 

Yeah i hear ya bud! I've noticed cops do just kinda overlook the car a little. Just the other day i was semi-racing my gf on the beltway heading back to sugarland and we passed a cop and he didn't flash the lights or anything maybe he was in awe seeing two coupes blaze by i dunno...hahaha j/k but i've noticed i've not gotten a look twice when i drive fast past them. I've even gotten praise from one! That was cool....

 

Im in Austin, but I don't have one on my G, didn't have one on my IS300 or my TL either....never stopped for it in those cars...my 96 prelude, not stopped....my 88 5.0 mustang LX coupe, stopped several times for no plate back in 93-94....usually it's the state troopers that will stop you for it...then they always gave me a warning, no ticket....

on a side note, I've had austin cops (cars and bikes) sitting on the side of the highway running radar/laser and I've been speeding....i usually try to stay in the far right lane vs. the left....no tickets yet and it does seem like they look right past the G....hmm?

 

I dont have one on my 05G, or on my daily civic. Where's some wood to knock on!

 

I'v been ticketed for no front plate 3 times. Everytime, I have been pulled over for another offense.

Usually the cop is mad im speeding and will look for other violations on my car... never been stopped for no front plate.

 

hey do you ahve a tan sedan? Do you take your car to West Houston Infiniti for service?

If so, im the afternoon service porter and i got to drive your car a week or two ago. I think the specialty plate said something like SRX or SRH or something like that
