Houston G Rides: August Meet Suggestions
Here we are guys as per everyone's request....This is the suggestion box for this August's meet. If i could please ask you to leave your suggestion here as well as the date you wish the meet to be held. Sorry guys i wasn't sure how to set up the poll option here Cato if you could help me out please!...but i guess it's too early without any suggestions....hahahahaha
My suggestion: Part wants to still run the mapped course that Andycon provided and another part wants a G-Rydes to G-Town....preferably on the 20th but 13th will suffice...

The drive to Galveston is pretty much a straight line, I don't know of any route that is actually fun to drive. I have been exploring the roads west of Sugar Land and have even gone so far as calling the Ft. Bend County Clerks office for a detailed map of all the rural county roads. I'm planning on putting togeather a route that would include lunch at either "Swinging Door" in Richmond or "Doziers Grocery" in Fulshear. I should have a route soon. Maybe we could do the BBQ drive in September?
I vote for andycon's route that has already been tested as good! August 13

I also vote for Andycon's route on the 13th...it IS proven as I did it on my bike and I was told that the real twisty bit is one of Texas' top ten roads. The road through Sam Houston National Forest is also very beautiful for those of you that like scenery.
As far as time is concerned, I would base it off distance and not how long it took for ME to complete the run...I did it on a bike so I had to take more stops to rest my legs and I also rode the twisty bit twice
. The run is about 250 miles start to finish, so it wouldn't even use up that much gas (1 tank?). I'm guessing without stopping for lunch, we could be done in 4 hours.
I'll be riding shotgun with Andy, so my vote really shouldn't count for much...just wanted to give my input anyway, it might affect someone's decision. I say any route with twisties is a good one.

My vote is for Galveston, whatever date. I love the idea of a fun run but in my opinion, I think we should just try to get EVERYONE together, meet, shake hands, and make everything official. Also, at this first meeting, we can pass out maps and try to schedule the fun run for sometime in the near future where everyone that is interested can make it. I think that this first meet should be more of a meet and great, take pictures, and show off the rides sort of thing. Just my 2 cents.

What Mike means is this being the first official meet as the "Houston G Rides". Most of us already met true but there are new faces. My suggestion is post up top...Now with saying that...I'm all for putting the car down and speeding but I don't think this should be every meet right? What I envision is during our monthly meets is we do something different each time. Cato, as you and I have talked before about having a Dyno Day I've found a shop that has a Dyno...or maybe a track day as we've talked about before. I was trying to get in touch with some people from Meguiars to try and come out and do a detail workshop....IMO doing something different each meet is fun and will keep it interesting b/c if we start keep doing routes not only will it get boring but i'm sure for some of us expensive on gas or miles or what not...keeping in mind we are all very spread out around houston as well.....But your vote is taken into consideration and will be polled...1 week before the 13th....How's that sound?
Yes, there are numerous ways to shorten the route...we could cut out at 45 like Infinite1 suggested or we could do a number of other things. I can come up with a shorter route if you would like...but if others have their eyes set on a Galveston trip, I really don't want to waste my time adjusting this route. Let me know and I'll revise the trip. About how many miles do people want to go?

My vote is for a modified "andycon route" on the 13th - shorten it to ~2hrs.
I agree with Cato - The Galveston drive is BORING....
Also, we can still meet 'n greet - we can start somewhere like Katy Mills Mall (starbucks next to the cinemas), Check out the rides, then cruise, and have several stop points along the way.
I am really keen to see (and hear) some of these Gee's!
