I got some curb rash on both of my right side wheels. Do any of you guys have any recommendations for wheel repair shops in Houston? I was thinking about trying Wheels America http://fixrim.com/index.htm

Ask for Art. He is the owner. They fix wheels for SW Infiniti and color match the G coupe wheels perfect. They will fix it perfect plus Art is super cool.

I am not familiar with the work of Wheel America in Houston nor the other company suggested above. I used to work in the wheel repair business for a competitor of Wheels America. Wheels America does a fine job at their Dallas/Fort Worth and San Antonio shops. Wheel Technologies (the company I worked for) does not have service in Houston so they may not be able to help you there.Originally Posted by kepp

One point of caution: If I not mistaken, G35 wheels have a special finish on them i.e. they are not just painted but use a finish that is similar to powder coating. We used to do a lot of G35 wheels at my company and the process always took twice as long due to the additional baking needed for powder-coating.
Wheel Technologies uses the German-based powder that is OEM on the G35 wheels. Their finish is the best, IMHO, and will last the longest. Call them to find out if they will pick up a wheel from Houston. Turn around is usually two days plus shipping time.
Wheels America uses a domestic powder that approximates the special finish it. Turn-around time should be 1-2 days.
I don't know of any other company that can handle special finishes because of its costs (more expensive) and the need for powder coating, so please be careful and inquire re this capability with whoever you use.
Regardless of who you use, make sure to compare your repaired wheel with the other wheels. Make sure to do it with the wheels cleaned and in sunlight as most imperfections are not visible under shop light no matter how good the lighting is. Keep an eye out for scratches in the clearcoat (one of the most common flaws) .Keep an eye out for running (powder) paint and bubbles. Most importantly, keep an eye out for what we call "trash" in the finish i.e. little specs of dirt or dust that were not removed before they put the special finish on or before they put the clearcoat on.
Hope that helps.
It's not the critic......
i just called Sabs and they quoted $129 for each rim as a starting price!
I have damage on all 4 rims (3 rims have small nicks from the tire machine) but 1 rim has major damage from some spilled brake cleaner
...so if i were to get all four rims fixed at Sabs........over $550! unreal!
comments anyone? how about doing myself?

Well, I figure $129/wheel is a lot cheaper than buying new or used wheels. I don't have any idea about trying to fix something like that yourself.
do a search on the board for WheelGuy....he's local and does work for NW Infiniti...he quoted me $50/wheel depending on how bad the damage

thanks ryan........i checked with chris a couple of meets ago and confirmed this costs as well.......$50 is a lot more easy to swallow than $129 starting!
i live on the west side and was looking around in case something was closer...ill give him a call and check it out
