Good fix with the tubing, but one problem still. How do you patch the hole???? I really need to get this fixed ASAP, thanks a lot. Martin

Re: Ztube-Popcharger VS AC line *pics*

There was a post last summer about insulating that AC line
with pipe insulation. I have had mine covered with small pipe
insulation since then. I never thought about damage from the
Z tube. I have the Stillen HFAB attached to my Z tube. There
was enough room between the Z tube and the AC line to
add pipe insulation. I guess this problem only applies to the
POP Charger?

No, it applies to any *IF YOU HAVE THE ZTUBE*
the Ztube is actually the problem but with the stock airbox its far enough away. Injen, Stillen and JWT owners have all reported the problem since my post. you are just lucky I guess.

there is prolly no fix. you will prolly have to get a whole new line put in. i would say take the injen off and go to the dealer. i wish the best of luck.

Re: Ztube-Popcharger VS AC line *pics*

I have the 2 tubes touching. Why can we not just get some thick shrink sleeving applied over the a/c line? The shrink sleeving (after installed) would literally have to be destroyed before any damage could be done to the a/c line. Also, they sell insulation for copper water heater pipes. It looks like black foam that is donut shaped and long. It has a razor thin slit down one side of it (kind of like the old "pads" that were on the BMX handle bars). Apply this as a cushion between the Z-Tube and the a/c line and there will be a "spring loaded" cushion between the two.

Aren't these both good ideas that would cost less than $1.00 each and both should solve the rub problem, no?

I'll probably combine the two fixes. I'm going to hd today to look for some black foam that I can be put inside the flex cover. Adding a small piece of the foam right where the rubbing occurs will solve the problem of the tube clamp rubbing, the flex cover rubbing and IMO will keep the cleaner appearance the flex cover gives.

Re: Ztube-Popcharger VS AC line *pics*

you guys think ur a step ahead dont u!!! I just got back from the depot with the black foam. Im gonna let the car cool to a nice 145degrees before I start...i would hate to burn myself.

Im gonna wrap the 1/2pipe insulation and then put the plastic cover over that. That thread i posted the link to did it to insulate the A/C line and said it helped a lot. I might do the whole line while Im at it.

Jeff, im gonna PM you my number, if u wanna meet up to do it we can.
Todd, call me and let me know when and where ur gonna be friday and I will bring the stuff for you...I will have plenty of extra.

What do you guys think about insulation tape also. Maybe a high temperature insulation tape would work too. This would keep the foam from burning/melting. Just another "SWAG" (Scientific Wild A$$ Guess).

Re: Ztube-Popcharger VS AC line *pics*

Hmm...I only want to do this once...Would the tape go directly on the line and the foam over than and the plastic pipe over that???

Where can i get this tape u speak of???

Re: Ztube-Popcharger VS AC line *pics*

That would be my guess. The insulated tape would go on the A/C line. This would keep the A/C line from getting too hot and damaging the foam padding. The foam padding would go over the tape, and then some shrink sleeving could be "shrunk" over the foam. It's possible that you could simply add more tape over the foam, that part is up to you.

BTW, we're on for Friday. Let's shoot for sometime right after lunch, say 1:00. That way I can get the car washed and some yardwork done before you and Marc show up. My address is...

2814 Strand Loop Ct.
Oviedo, FL 32765

Map quest will get you there. Demonteverde, you gonna show up too? Maybe we can all meet up at my house before Bithlo.

I noticed this when I installed my Pop-Charger. I just double checked mine. It's more than 1/4" away from the AC tube.

Re: Ztube-Popcharger VS AC line *pics*

My simple solution at the time I installed the P-C was to just rotate the MAF tube about 1/2" from alignment in relation to the Z-Tube.
