Why would the ac line get too hot? Also, how would you get a shrink sleeve on the line? I don't think you can slit those and have it shrink properly.

Re: Ztube-Popcharger VS AC line *pics*

the AC line get pretty hot but the thread about the guy who wrapped it for insulating purposes did not use tape and this was a while ago....havent seen any posts about it melting
And since iv never heard of this tape and dont know where to get it...i'll prolly just do the pipe insulation and plastic cover

Neff, if u can gimme the details on it, i can go pick some up before tomorrow as im sure the reason u declined was your schedule.

" I don't think you can slit those and have it shrink properly."
That's why it's called a brain fart.

Wes, Call up home depot or an automotive store and ask them if they have any insulation tape good to about 200 degrees.

Dudes...... It's not that complicated, just line up the pop charger like above. This makes the bracket shift the whole assembly to the left. There should be plenty of room.

I don't think it's a good idea to cover the AC line, because then you won't be able to see any damage if there is any.

Just line it up like above and keep an eye on it.

Just got done with mine.

Re: Ztube-Popcharger VS AC line *pics*

OK went to Advanced Auto Parts and got the answer I thought I would..
Since the A/C line is naturally COLD and just is heated from other components in the engine, the pipe insulation could only possible get hot from the outside and not hot enough to be a problem...that being said, the electrical tape i have is rated for 194degrees and I will bring it, if u still want to put something under the foam.

See ya tomorrow at 1oclock...i may try to do it myself in a few hours because the car will be HOT when i get to ur place but if im lazy or need a hand then I'll do it tomorrow at your place

Re: Ztube-Popcharger VS AC line *pics*

I'll have to let all you see mine...its as far left as it will go due to heat shield (that im not removing) and still touching the A/C line.

Plus, this is a double fix/mod...your air will run colder faster and your protecting the A/C line cause you have no idea how much it may bounce while driving... 1/4" isnt far enough in my mind.

Plus, Insulating A/C lines seems to be farely common...the guy at Auto Discount knew exactly what I was doing and acted as though many do it. We'll see i guess

Re: Ztube-Popcharger VS AC line *pics*

HAHA, its a good thing cause I might try to beat my 10 or 12 i did earlier in this thread

OK, UPDATE, and i know u guys might be gettin tired of this but well get over it...this should be my last few (contains a couple more pics)

Anyways, The plastic tubing over the pipe insulation is a NO GO as the biggest is 1" and it doesnt fit over the smallest pipe insulations made for 1/2" pipes.
Currently I have just the pipe insulation on and just made two drive and the foam didnt not even get warm to the touch. But to be safe tomorrow at Neff's Im gonna remove the Ztube and Popcharger and surround the insulation with electric tape rated for 194degrees.
Anyways, here is a couple pics of it with just the insulation.
