So I was going to get some tint on my 07 G35X. I believe the NC law is 30%, should I just go the legal limit? I know there is a check on the state inspection for it.

Go with the legal limit. I've never had an issue with police, but it's a PITA when inspection time comes around...

 

I thought you won't get in trouble for tint? Isn't it only a moving violation?

 

I have 20% tint on my 05 6MT coupe and just had to go through the process of getting my car inspected. I ended up removing the tint off my front two windows for inspection purposes. It costs me 20 dollars to remove the tint and 50 dollars to re-tint them. I will say that inspection places are not looking the other way anymore when it comes to illegal tint, no matter the amount you are willing to pay. I have been told by several businesses and people i know that, if they are caught passing illegal tint, that it is a $2000 dollar fine and potential suspension of their inspection liscense. But i have found that most places will work with you if you remove tint from the front two windows.
