Stay away from Lokey Infiniti
Please, please, please read what I went through with Lokey Infiniti before you choose them over Infiniti of Tampa...
Here is the the Better Business Bureau complaint I just filed...believe me I could have said more, but they only give you so much space...
COMPANY OR ORGANIZATION INFORMATION:
Lokey Infiniti
19740 US Highway 19 N
Clearwater, FL United States 33764
(727)531-4774
COMPLAINT INFORMATION:
Complaint #: 862454
Complaint Type: General Complaint (not a car maker)
Date Received: 11/8/2002
Primary Complaint Classification: Selling Practices
Secondary Complaint Classification: Contract Disputes
Complaint:
Sept. 2002, my husband & I went to Lokey to purchase a new car. They didn't have what we wanted, so we put down a $500 deposit so they'd have it delivered from the factory, mid-Dec. 2 or 3 weeks later, I researched the car to find they discontinued the color we ordered. I went to the dealer & they basically made me feel like I was an idiot for not believing them. When I heard from other dealers that I was correct, we called again, & they reluctantly said they'd try to call the factory. About 3 days later, the color that was replacing ours came in, so they finally admitted they were wrong. Frustrated, but still sticking with them, I gave them a list of dealerships that currently had the car we wanted & asked them to dealer trade. They found 1 at a GA dealership, where I knew they had 2 of the exact model & that at least 1 was a demo, so I specifically asked if it had any miles on it. We got a call back from Bill Martin that it had "no" miles on it. I know "no" miles doesn't mean 0, but I (& other dealerships) admitted that it couldn't mean more than 30 miles, and that they shouldn't deliver a car until the miles are known. The car finally came in, & just as we were about to fill out the paper work, they admitted it had 150 miles on it (and some signs of wear). After everything else, we couldn't possibly go through w/ the deal. We wanted our $500 & they said they would credit us the next day (it was after 6pm). 15 min later Bill Martin called us, threatening (even yelling) that they would not return our $500, & they were invoicing us $250 more to cover the deliverly (as well as another threat that they'd call other dealers & the factory on us). I called Infiniti Consumer Affairs (ref#3922809), but after a month of waiting they told me they could not force the dealer to do anything since they are independently owned. Now I deserve my $500 deposit (that they've had for 2 months) back, & the $250 invoice they sent reversed.
Desired Settlement: Refund
Settlement Explanation:
Refund of my $500 deposit and reversal of the $250 invoice which is supposedly due 11/15/02, as well as no marks on my credit if the disputed $250 is not paid to them on time.

Re: Stay away from Lokey Infiniti
It is possible to have a bad experience from ANY dealer in the world, it all depends on who you talk to and what kind of day they're having.
I purchased my 6MT black/black coupe on Saturday, January 11th. I called Lokey on Monday, January 6th, and told them what I was looking for. They called me back that afternoon and said someone just backed out, so I put down a $500 fully refundable deposit. The coupe was scheduled to be delivered around the 17th, but ended up coming in the 10th (to my surprise!). Anyhow, to make a long story short I had a great experience with Lokey.
Now here's the kicker. I put down a $1000 deposit with Infiniti of Tampa in June of 2002 for a diamond graphite fully loaded 6MT coupe. It arrived ahead of schedule and I had not sold my car yet. I tried to get my money back, but the sales manager said no can do - "You either take delivery or you lose your $1000". After hours of arguring and seeing that I was telling everyone how great Infiniti of Tampa was (I was saying this on FreshAlloy BEFORE I found out I was not receiving my deposit back), the sales manager told me that if I went on FreshAlloy and told everyone that I got my deposit back without a problem and how great everyone at Infiniti of Tampa was, he would THEN give me my grand back. So yes I publicly kissed their *** on the forum and I did receive my money. I then pretty much said F them and continued to try and sell my car. & the rest is history...

Re: Stay away from Lokey Infiniti
Was this issue ever resolved? I just picked up a G35 Coupe 2 weeks ago. I was required to put a $1000.00 deposit down at Lokey a month ago. Infinti of Tampa got me a car ASAP and I have sent numerous requests (with no reply) to my sales associate at Lokey. Luckily, I paid with a credit card and I am disputing the amount. I may go ahead and file a complaint with the BBB.

Re: Stay away from Lokey Infiniti
No...I never got my $500 back, and I disputed it with Discover, but they wouldn't give it back to me either. However, my case is different since they had a car for me, just not the car they told me I was getting since they said it had no miles on it, but in reality it had 150 some miles. I have found from a couple other people that Discover will only give the money back if they are able to get it from the seller, but Lokey refused. If you look on fresh alloy (search for Lokey), you can see a HUGE discussion and all the ideas others gave me about taking them to small claims court, etc...i definitely would for $1000...i just didn't know if it was worth my time for $500. Someone that read my posting there and that works for Infiniti even called and talked to Mr. Lokey on my behalf, but finally emailed me to take him to small claims court...that he deserves it. Please do write to the BBB...if this is becoming a common occurance, everyone needs to know.
Who was your dealer? Bill Martin or Bill Wilson?? If so, post on Fresh Alloy b/c I bet you'd get some more help there....they already have expressed their hatred for them
Good luck to you...and please tell me how it works out...

Re: Stay away from Lokey Infiniti
Getta: Im sorry to hear you had such a bad problem. So did you ever get a G35 or are you still looking.
If you still want a car I suggest checking the Atlanta Dealers (Roswell Infiniti specifically), thats where i got mine. The market is MUCH different in Atlanta than here in Florida, and there are many coupes available for sale from the dealers up there. A 5 hour drive could save you a ton of waiting and headaches.
You should try to have Discover open your dispute again. Approach it from the angle that they did not deliver the PROMISED goods ( a car with no miles).
Honesty, I would not expect much from the BBB. They get a ton of complaints like that a day and really all they do is forward them to the dealers. After all, its the dealers and businesses that PAY the BBB a fee to be a member. They won't really ever take your side against a business that pays their salary.
Also try contacting one or several of the local TV stations about your consumer problem. In Jax they have a guy on the local news that will go out with a camera crew and ask them whats up. Nothing a dealer hates worse than bad publicity.

Go to Infiniti of Tampa and talk to Clint McDonough
HE gave me a great deal and the whole dealership experience has been great. I think they sell more cars than lokey
Explain your situation to him and I am sure the whole team there can help you out
