Whoever does your bra, be sure they use 3M. The Lumar is crap and does not hold up. The 3M has a clearcoat on it, Lumar does not. I've seen the difference, and you must stick with 3M.

Update to the services from Derek at Atlanta Protective Films. Thanks to Scott's info I contacted Derek and he came out today. Dude... if you like the way he did your G, you should see mine! (just kiddin'...) Actually he told me he spent a looooooonnnnnnngggg time on yours Scott, which was cut in half on mine as he now has a 'feel' for the car.

Simply AMAZING what a difference it will make.

Can't recommend Derek enough. Really straight up guy, real professional. Anyone that does call him... you'll be glad you did!!! He has his own plotter and (fairly expensive) software, allowing him to cut patterns for pretty much any vehicle out there.

As for the film... Of course we know that there are a number of different films out there. This is where you need to trust your installer. Derek has worked in the field for some time now, and has experience with Lumar, 3M and Avery Dennison on the clear bra product. Didn't sound to fond of Lumar. The 3M product has a 'fan base' but that doesn't in and of itself make it a better product. In fact, for this application it can be more of a problem. To get this product to work, you need to be able to stick it down and then reposition it during the application to make sure all edges align. One put down once, the 3M product is there for ever and again. If it's just a little bit off you'll have to start over, costing a substantial more money and time. Please don't take this to read however that he'll not install 3M. Far from it... if that's what the client wants, he will of course provide that product. The Avery Dennisson product however has an extra top-coat that makes it look very nice. Plus it is designed to allow the installer to reposition it during the install. The end result is nothing short of STELLAR!

The other side of Derek's install is of course that he's NOT what they call a "free cutter" that takes a razor blade to your car! Everything he installs has been cut by a state of the art plotter in his office and will fit like a glove. BE WARNED, if you go to your local dealer, perhaps up to 80% or more of them are "free cutters", probably because they don't want to invest in the expense of graphics quality plotters and expensive software. The "free cutters" have to fold the edges because they don't have a pattern for you car. Then where you do have exposed straight lines they literally cut it while it's on your PAINT!!! YIKES!!!!!!!!

Bottom line was $549.00, installed with tax. That included a large sheet on the hood, headlights, small piece outside the headlights, piece beside the headlights on the front of the fender, complete one piece bumper unit, rear view mirrors, door cups, and even a little piece where you put the key in the drivers door. (I didn't want the piece on the rear bumper as I'm able to actually put stuff in the trunk without dragging it across the bumper.)

Again, thanks to Scott for finding Derek for us. And of course many thanks to Derek for giving us such an incredible deal. My only regret was that I didn't have him do our Denali (in candy apple metallic) while he was here. (The wife didn't think she needed it. Now after seeing what all he did, she's wanting it on 'her' truck.)

06Coupe...I am so glad that things went well. I hope you will be as happy with your install as I am with mine. Derek really does go the extra mile to get it done just right.

He mentioned your car being a GREAT red color. Do you have any pictures? I can't place the color based on his description.

No problem Real_G... let me know when you're coming up and maybe we can 'do lunch' or something. I'm about 35~45 minutes south of Atlanta, only 10 minutes off I-75.

Uhhhh... that'd be Laser Red baby... or PULL ME OVER RED! (Very similar to Guard Red on the Porche(s). )

It looks AWESOME!

I'll get some photos either today or tomorrow and see about posting them.

I agree. Derek installed my clear bra last Thursday on a DG 2006 G35 coupe. He came to my Dad's house (which is closer to where I work) to complete the install. He did a great job on the installation, and my Dad said that he was a really nice guy also (I only met him while he was finishing his work).

Thanks to this old thread I had Derek Johnson of Atlanta Protective Films do a clear bra on my 07 Nismo 350Z yesterday. Derek drove to my house in Greenville SC (2.5 hours) and did the install in my garage. I believe he worked on it for 4 hours. Derek uses Xpel patterns & Xpel film so no free cutting. He had never done a Nismo Z so he actually brought an extra bumper kit along in case. He mentioned that if anyone in his install area wants their Nismo Z done he would give them a discount since he already has the pattern cut out. I highly recommend Derek. Anyone who knows me knows I am very picky about my cars so you can be sure you'll be getting a perfect install. Very neat, professional, and price was very competitive considering he drove to my home to do the install. Most of the others were quoting me the same prices and I had to drive to them. Tell Derek I sent you. Derek's contact email is:
