SVTOA-Atlanta Presents Hot Laps!


Fancy yourself as the next Schumacher, Montoya, or even Gordon?

That’s right - SVTOA-Atlanta is inviting you to Hot Laps!

Come join us on August 30th for a full day of hot lapping. We have secured the Talladega Gran Prix Raceway for a full day of fun. This is a non-timed driving event, not a competitive event, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have the time of your life! And best of all…convertibles are welcome! So whether you have a Focus, Cobra, Lightning, or any other performance car, you can test the limits of you car and yourself in a relaxed, safe and fun environment. You can even bring a passenger. All you need to enjoy this full day of speed and G forces is a car that can pass a simple tech inspection (meaning it is in safe street condition) and a helmet that meets Snell specifications for you and your passenger.

If you don’t have a helmet, Discovery Motorsports ( www.discoveryparts.com) will be on hand to participate, share his experience from years of SCCA racing, and supply a limited number of loaner helmets. You will be able to purchase your own, new Snell approved helmet from him at the track if you desire. If you contact him, he will bring your purchase to the track with him .He will have his sales trailer with him for any other needs you may have. Many thanks to Jim Hunt for his help.

Talladega Gran Prix Raceway, better known as Little Talladega, is located in Alabama, just a short one and one half hour ride from the Atlanta area.

Talladega Gran Prix Raceway is a 1.35 mile road course located just minutes from Interstate 20. The track, built in 1985 has been host to numerous motorcycle races, go-kart races, sport car races, and various clubs events. The track is available for tuning and testing of motorcycles, cars, and go-karts. The track is in operation 52 weeks a year and welcomes newcomers and veterans alike. One nice thing about this track is that it has no guard rails. Instead, it has large runoff areas in case you happen to overcook it a little. To ensure a safe environment and plenty of track time, we are limiting the event to the first thirty (30) registrants on a first come, first served basis.

We’ve tried to keep this event very affordable. The full day of driving is only $175.00 for SVTOA members and $200.00 for non-members. Hello, I'm the Activities Direcor for the Atlanta Chapter of the SVTOA and I would like to personally invite you to join us for our open track event. Although we are a group of SVTOA enthusiasts, we are first and foremost performance car enthusiasts. We enjoy high performance cars of all types and we would love to have you at our event. If you have never attended an open track event before, the first thing to understand is that it is NOT a race. Instead, it it a chance to explore your cars performance envelope in a safe and controlled environment. We split up the perticipants into, up to, four run groups based on car performance and driver experience. This will ensure that if you are a first time participant, you won't be running with the real track dogs! You can run at your own pace and even bring a passenger. We will have SCCA driver instructors available to help you with your on-track skills. We will have every thing from full on track cars to stock Mustangs and Focuses on hand. This will be a relaxed, fun, low pressure day of fun, so come on out!

Our normal non-member price is $200.00 for the day. This helps pay for the track rental and emergency personel and equipment.
We would like to extend our SVTOA member price of $175.00 to anyone from this site as a courtesy. Just mention the site when you register.
