Lowering in tampa...
Lowering in tampa...
2 requests..
1. I just moved to tampa and have a pro kits springs set for my coupe. I have a fibreglass kit as well and am finding it very difficult to find a shop that can install them without scratching up the kit.....anyone know where i might find a good shop to install my springs?
2. I keep getting conflicting advice...I hear i can install my prokits without a camber kit as well (i have 19/9.5f 19/10.5r). and then i hear i need a kit?!! what the deal.
over time i am going to scrap them both, and get a strong coilover set up (dont say just get it now because im not!!) but in the interim i wanna just lower my car. i know i will need to get it aligned and all, but i want to know can i actually drive and not look like an idiot without the camber kit? will it effect my driving? will it feel like an african range rover when im driving? will the wheels look crooked or butterflied, or will they still look straight and stay under the wheel well?
i have the standard prokits not anything more.
also, unfortunatley i have an AT which overall coming out of a Z sucks a little, but i dig it. what good upgrades can I find? Im not looking to get an old school shift kit type thing that old mustang lx's had, but something that is definately top end. I like to jam on the highway late at night when i am coming from ybor city or cutting across the causway (you know wht im talking about.....straight runs of fun!!) i understand that FI is the way to go, but im not going to do that until maybe next year, what i am talking about is a good Airbox set up, and maybe a goodflow system. I also know that placement of the airbox is crucial, so is there anyone that has a pretty intricate placement of their airbox that still is pimptight and cosmetically savey? I have a replica ken style front end because I know the eurothane kit isnt as forgiving as a fibre glass front and dont want to have to replace it when i tackle a dip in the road i didnt see or a driveway or speed bump thats higher than k2!!
so im asking alot, but i have a nice joint like im sure we all do and i just wanna keep it looking nice.
thanks.

in addition, if someone can answer this as well...and dont just say do a search....just dont respond if you dont know.....im probably not going to do a FI system....so i have an idea as to what im going to do...
carbon fibre plenum if i can find one..
really good intake...ill figure it out soon..stillen, typhoon, injen
hks exhaust....
maybe a UR pully system...
on an A/T coupe...what kinds of gains could i expect?
i know i will not get TT gains, but i am really big on just jaming on the highway...for like 10 mins or so without getting nabbed by the po-po!!
looking for gains up to or as close to 300hp as i can. and that i can feel. I am very comfortable with my ***** size so i could care less about 1/4 mile times and dyno garbage, i am just talking about real actual hp gains that translate into increased speed.
so help is needed by those that know more than me... thanks!

remember that the VQ is a highly compressed engine. bolt ons that would normally add a lot of HP gains on a camaro (per-say), will not give the same results in the VQ. i've never heard of a carbon fiber spacer, but a regular spacer will get you around 10 whp (according to what i've read on other forums, not sure if they had other mods so dont quote me on that one). a good intake will basically do nothing on our cars because the engine is too compressed to attain a significant increase of power due to more air flow. the best intakes translate into CAI's, and the CAI's will do you no better than buying a z-tube. Unless you plan on eventually opting for FI, then a CAI is not worth the money. z tube is more bang for the buck. z tubes are meant to improve your HP by 7, while a CAI will probably get you the same or less. pulley systems are a personal favorite of mines. i havent heard of anyone installing a pulley system on the G, but on lower compressed vehicles, gains are very noticeable in acceleration (torque). it will also get a few horsepower (around 20 to the crank). now bare in mind, i said that this is for lower compressed vehicles, so expect a bit less for the VQ. HKS exhaust is a very popular mod. power gains, im not sure how well they respond, but i have heard many people say they're "pleased" with the power increase, as well as the sound.

pulley's, z tube, and an exhaust will definitedly help you reach 300hp, guaranteed. you're already considering an upgrade to the suspension, which is a GREAT investment. i always tell newb's to the G, if you dont get FI, get a suspension upgrade.

Don't you think you need to lose your attitude a little in order to receive help from other members?
1) Any suspension install questions should be posted in the Florida G35 Club section because almost none of us in Florida will read your thread here
https://g35driver.com/forums/florida-g-club-68/
2) No one can tell you for sure if your Eibachs are going to need camber correction for the front, rear or both. You have to have them installed and get the car aligned first.
3) What do you mean by "the eurothane kit isnt as forgiving as a fibre glass". Fiberglass blows I hope you know that. And it's spelled urethane in case you need to search it
If you're already comfortable with your ***** size why not just buy a 300hp car out of the box? There's no N/A mod that you'll really feel. You need a plenum, headers and a full exhaust system to get a small butt-dyno gain (around 20rwhp but then again we said we don't care about ***** size). What FI system are you planning on getting? Some turbos will require getting rid of the headers so I wouldn't get them now only to get rid of them next year. Have you considered nitrous? It's the best bang for the buck power and it's safe if set up right.
Hope this helps somewhat =)

yes absolutely it helped both of you. and i know fibre glass sucks hard, but dude the roads here suck major ***, and i dont want to have to keep having to replace my front end because i hit a dip i didnt see. been down that road. id have to replace it all the same with fibre glass too, but way cheaper. As for a carbon fibre plenum, i have seen a bmw with one, so i figured our cars had one somewhere? i would assume crawford would have one. and i swear ive seen or heard someone had a pully system. I know i will have to get an alignment, and i know we already have a bit of negetive camber already on the rear, but with my kit, its low as hell now, and putting on the springs will make it damn near crawl!!
i know CAI's are for gay fartcan having honda civics, and looks or sound, but with me having an AT...the first in a long time, i figured id be losing some just for that reason alone. but i hear that there is one that just sounds nasty! i think smoke g305 had a thread and argument about one, but i cant remember which, injen i think? but the AT takes off nice! moreso, the ***** comment was because some people always talk about owning someone or 1/4 mile times and thats why they did whatever upgrade. i drive alone and love to just gun it long distance. I wish they had a circut for that!!! but i just wanna feel that pull like my Z had. I was pulling at 145 no prob! So if i was 0-60 at 20 mins i wouldnt care, so as long as the 21st minute i was at 155!! and could hold it steady and keep it movin, make sense.
So thank for the unput people sorry for sounding like a douche, but i have actually met some of the florida G kats on the street, like i saw a dude in a white one yesterday, here in tampa...i was jamin at the light and he was laughing at me. 20" mayas white. and so far most i hve met are cool as cats, but once people get on line, humanity turns into nut sacks.
so i apologies, but really thanks for the info. now locally or miami, tampa clearwater, where ever , where can i get this stuff and a really reliable spot to install? aside from grubs in dallas/ft worth? (to buy that is)
thanks.
you-row-thane! hows that!
Hehe I know what you mean. I didn't buy a G to be a drag-racer either, sometimes you just wanna cruise and listen to the engine. The Z pulls more because it's lighter and even if you do some lightweight mods to the G (battery, wheels, muffler, no spare etc) it will be nothing noticeable. Btw there are 2 guys in Tampa with white coupes and 20" mayas. One of them is twinchell, I don't remember the other one's handle.
Like I said, if you have any questions about parts and installs, post them up in the Florida G35 club forum I linked above. There's a lot of locals that can help you and the club might be able to get you some discounts.
Is this the CF "plenum" you're talking about? If yes, that's an M3 CSL CF airbox with Alpha-N software. I don't think anyone will ever come up with something that advanced for the G.. you can get a CF Z-tube and engine cover, but that's about it

yea but an engine cover really isnt going to do anything but dress it up...my guess. So a Z-tube, plenum, hks exhaust, kanye workout plan, u r pullys, should give me some noticeable pull? cool. now is the jury still out on a good and reliable chip? I know for years there has then not been a programmable chip for the G.....is there one or not now? and if so is it laced with the "Blue screen of death" so to speak? im sure that will make my already 4ft to the gallon even less, but since im on the road for the time being it wont matter really.
I bought the car with 10k at 7mo old (they drove the hell out of it) and 3 years later it only has 40k and most of that was driving to panama city and back.....texas to tampa...and three trips to phoenix and back to texas. so I think i am doing good. but all those trips were crazy fast. ohh and a trip to mobile and back to tampa, twice!
Where do you suggest I find a Z-tube? and that plenum? and will i have to get anything reset..ecu wise?
thanks.
