PWNED in 1/10 of a mile.
PWNED in 1/10 of a mile.
There are two parking structures (side by side) where I live. I pull out of one, never getting past 2nd gear or 15mph, and get pulled over right away. I didn't even get as far as 1/10 of a mile.
I got a fix-it ticket for:
1) Exhaust - apparently it's too loud even in 2nd gear around 12-15mph...even though I could barely hear it with the windows down myself.
2) Tinted License Plate Cover - it's about time they got me for this.
3) No Front Plate - it's about time they got me for this.
4) Tint - not surprised.
I just think it's funny that I look a cop in the eyes almost every time I drive in San Diego...yet this is the first time I've been pulled over. I guess I should consider myself lucky that that's all I got - not that I was dong anything else wrong...what else can you do illegally at <15mph?
Ah well, what can I do?
Sit around and wait 2 weeks for the ticket to arrive in the mail...at which point I will just mail it to my relative in the PD to sign it off for me. No big deal. Just a hassle...
Can't blame the cops for doing their jobs, I guess.
Question - Can I get another fix-it ticket for the same violations mentioned above in the next 12 weeks (2 weeks for the ticket to arrive & 10 weeks to to fix them all)?

Dude sorry to hear..that sucks...I remember you always telling me about your license plate cover and ya about time haha. As far as getting another ticket I think will depend on the cop maybe..I know missxhustler once told me she got 2 tickets by the same cop on the same street before if I heard it right.

Another thing, i would suggest calling to a CHP station and inquiring about where can u get ur exhaust DB levels checked by the state. So next time u can drive by a cop going 35mph on second gear, and when he stops u, u slap him with a 4 page certificate.
Good Luck.
I suppose it doesn't matter how many tickets I get. I just don't want to have to pay $10.50 for ever ticket that I get.
Here's how it's going to go.
The ticket will be mailed to my house. I will then mail it to my uncle (by marriage). He will then take it to his nephew (I don't know what that makes him to me...my cousin?) in the PD who will sign it off. Then it'll find its way back to me. A long process...but whatever.
BTW - I don't really know this...cousin (or whatever he is in relation to me)...too well. Hence my sending the ticket to my uncle first.

San Diego PD will not be signing my ticket off. My cousin (or some relative...) is actually a sheriff in Baldwin Park I believe. He should be able to take care of it for me.
At WOT...I guarantee my exhaust exceeds the DB limits in CA. But at ANY other time...it's pretty quiet. I can control the volume...just be easy on the gas.
But I don't know how this DB level check/certificate thing works. Explain?

^Unless u have the car strait piped from the headers then it is very hard to get up to 95DBs. What kind of exhaust do u have?
I am not sure where ur local office is for california Certified Sound Decibel check but if u call the CHP office they will let u know. You go to them, they usually hold the revs steady to 4500rpm and get a sound reading, If it is below 95 DB then u pass and if there is a ticket that they have to sign off it is completely free. Besides signing off the ticket they give u a 4 page certificate with the picture of the muffler.
Next time when u are driving 65 on the freeway u can go to 3rd gear at 5k rpm and wait till the cop pulls over, when he says, "Do u know why i pulled u over?" U say " Yes because u do NOT know that my exhaust is completely legal" and u slap the pig with the certificate.

1) Is this test free?
2) What if I fail? Will they give me a ticket right there and then? LOL! Talk about PWNAGE!

I have HKS + FI's 300 Cell Cats...ask anyone at the CH meets. It's loud.
For the record - it's not the loudness that I like from the combo of HKS + HFC's...it's the tone. I'd still be happy if I got the same tone but at a lower volume.
I'm starting to miss me e-cutout right about now.

. But I will say your exhaust is pretty loud when comparing to other peoples at the ch meets.
Excessively noisy exhaust systems and mufflers (27150, 27151 VC). Many aftermarket exhaust systems and parts are illegal. Look for parts that meet California law. If it doesn't say it meets the law, it probably doesn't.
Note: New law (27150.2 VC) does not require law enforcement to use sound level meters to test for excessive noise. Citation is based on officer's judgment. Cited violators may have testing done at smog referee stations or may be directed by the court to have testing done. Vehicles in violation must be brought into compliance. A fine may also be imposed.
A certificate of compliance for a vehicular exhaust system shall be issued pursuant to subdivision (a) if the vehicle complies with Sections 27150 and 27151. Exhaust systems installed on motor vehicles, other than motorcycles, with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of less than 6,000 pounds comply with Sections 27150 and 27151 if they emit no more than 95 dbA when tested in accordance with Society of Automotive Engineers Standard J1169 May 1998.
27150.7. A court may dismiss any action in which a person is prosecuted for operating a vehicle in violation of Section 27150 or 27151 if a certificate of compliance has been issued by a station pursuant to Section 27150.2, or if the defendant had reasonable grounds to believe that the exhaust system was in good working order and had reasonable grounds to believe that the vehicle was not operated in violation of Section 27150 or 27151.
