the 335 is the biggest pile of crap $60K+ can buy you

sorry owned my share of "bummers" and I wont dare to drive another. They had some 10K+ motors blow the first 3 months of the car. Then overheating ETC ETC ETC...and why would you pay $60k for a 3 series? You can buy a Caymen at that point and at least say you drive a Porsche.

a fully loaded 335i Coupe will be under $55k if I recall correctly, plus sales tax and you're right around $60k

Come on guys. You got a G35, lets not even bring up the g37 yet. Ok so g35 07 sticker about what $35k?? then you got the 335i sticker at about what $55k? How many horses can you pump out of a G35 with $20k + , youll rip the 335 a new A**hole ^_^. Just some thoughts.....

The 135 will not bury the 335, but pound for pound, I'd bet on the 135.

I still hold to the belief that the 335 is going to be quite tuneable and M3 owners will wish they had taken "the road less traveled".

Cheers,
Fred
technically I could have gone "the road less traveled" but I drove the M3 once, and I was sold!

for the track - 135i chipped/modded
for a great all around car M3

Stock for stock there is NO way a 335i would bury the E46 M3. Sure they are about the same in straight line acceleration... but if you were to take it to a circuit race track, the M3 would easily outperform the 335i.

M3 has been tuned for the track; the 335i has not

yeah handling characteristics is a major reason to favor one car over another for me..

i was initially pretty impressed by the stiffness of the G35's body.. of course ive improved it.. but when i test drove the 335, i really wasnt impressed.. and they calledd it sport suspension..
i'd just have to take wallys word for it on this.. i'd go M3 and chill with that.. its still a pretty gangster and respectable car..

as for my aspirations to hang with a 335... hmmm.. i'll just have to see how much $$ i want to throw at DRU .. =)

ive raced my friends 335i before and the g has no chance. You'll be neck and neck on take off but the 335i will pull ahead.

A friend of mine has a 335i 6 speed. its fast. however, its just his daily driver. i raced him in my 04 g35 coupe. we started at 2nd gear and did the three honks race. 2nd and third it was even. my top of 4th gear he he pulled a bit then in my 5th gear he pulled me. i lost by a car at top of 5th.

they're fast cars stock. my friends is stock. I have jwt intake. 5/16ths spacer and stillen TD exhaust. the driver of the 335i is by no means whatsoever a bad driver. he and I both have a long previous history of racing dsm's together.( mitsubishi/lancer/talon AWD turbo.)

after the race we talked a bit about it and he was quite surprised that i kept it a close race. he was convinced that i got a "good one" in terms of my g35.

just thought I'd share my 335i experience with you all.

yeah.. it looks like i have no chance..
i mean ive already tried my hand in one race.. up to 3rd gear from a dig.. he was 4-5 cars ahead.. and i have alot of stuff on my car already..

so yeah.. i know.. its definitely an uphill battle.. and its going to take too much to get at that level.. =(

John,

Here's how to make an NA G35 beat a 335 OR M3 for that matter...

-bore out the engine to AT LEAST 3.7L, 4.2 preferred
-larger injectors, upgraded fuel rails, larger fuel pump
-aggressive lift cams
-VTC Pulley
-increase compression ratio
-upgraded pistons, rods, studs
-and tuning of course, probably F-Con or now popular MOTEC

this will net you 350+Whp @ 7800 RPM. (rev limited adjusted)
(done in japan with multiple VQ35s)

If you've got the money, this is the way to do it.
imagine this thing out on the track. (non 1/4 mile)

that or drop an LS7 in your G.
That'll make for some interesting sunday drives. LOL!!!!
