Track day for socal drivers?

I was looking at Willow springs website and the track rent is $3000 for one day on a weekend. For all those track junkies, what does this cover? It did NOT specify on on their website. Does this cover instructor fees for newbies such as myself? And how does this whole process work as far as the reservation goes.

It would be nice if we can get about 20 of us and rent the track for just ourselves and go have fun there. What do u guys think of this idea. If we get 15-20 of us it would be $150-$200.

Any help would be appreciated.

Wow, having the track for ourselves would defiantely be SWEET.

Remember though, your brakes pads & tires are probably going to be toast. So that's another hidden expense.

Someone over on my350z.com is trying to organize a track day for GTM built cars to strut their stuff. But he said that all cars all welcome. There is nothing set in stone yet but if you guys are interested, I can give you details as they come. I think it's like $150-$160 for the day.

if we have the track for the whole day the pads and the tires should be fine. The only thing that we all need to do is get brake fluid flush before the track just to be safe. We can take nice cooldown stops and go run them again. We just need someone to organise this. Someone who has rented the a track before and give us details of what we are suppose to do. Hexxum001 if u get any details about this post here so we can know. If not i know im gonna hit the track in mid february.

Pinoy it will be $150-200 as long as we get 15-20 people signed up. The hardest thing to do is get 20 people signed up.

hmmm...gonna be tough getting a track for yourself. need to factor in insurance, and since most of you are beginners, you'll need some form of instruction.

why not just come out to a track day that's already been organized for you?

if we get enough people, we can get our own run group, which basically allows us about 5-6 15 minute sessions running with our own peeps.

i'll be signing up for the feb 3rd event with speedtrial usa at willow springs.

come out and join us.

best time is to do it now before the heat comes creeping in.

i'll be in the beginner's group for this event

in your application, tell them Vinh sent you.

^that’s what i thought, it wouldn't be so simple just to pay that 3k and have the track for ourselves and have the instructors, safety crew and other people included. Don’t u suppose to have experience in streets of willow before u can sign up to drive the big Willow Srpings Track?

no experience necessary, except of course the ability to drive and have fun.

the instructors are pretty good. they are free to ride in your car, drive your car, or have you sit in their car.

what you need r the following:

water, snacks, car in good running order, helmet SA2000 or SA2005, tech sheet. DON'T forget your jackets. It WILL be cold.

they tech at the track for free IF you do not live within 20 miles of one of the listed shops. If you do, you need to make an appt to get it tech at the shop (it is free) before you come to the track or they charge you $20.

this is what you can expect at one of these events:

1- registration
2- tech inspection
3- all driver's mtg where they discuss flags and safety
4- parade lap for everyone
5- beginner's come back for their first "download" session
6- beginner's go on the track. break up into 4-6 cars that drive single file behind an instructor's car. this exercise helps you learn the proper lines (very tense because you are trying to drive 1-2 ft from the car in front of you)
7- download session
8- go out again, single file, but this time you are also 2x2. goal is to stay close to the car in front of you and to the side of you (teaches you peripheral vision and being comfortable with being on the track with other cars)
9- download session
10- another 2x2 session, but this time they'll break you off and allow to to haul *** around the track. first time they will introduce passing.
11- download session
12- open track
13- download session
14- open track
15- wait around or download session
16- open track
17- buy pictures of your car on the track for $65, pack up, and get food and go home

hex...

no. i'm just going on the 3rd. i don't think we will ever get enough cars out for our own run group. i think if we just all sign-up for beginner's, we basically get our own group.

i'm hoping it will be GTM built cars as well as fellow G drivers.

Okay, cool. It looks like the Street Legal Drags on 01/05/08 might get rained out so this is even more of a possibility for me. I'll let you guys know for sure ASAP.
