Where did you guys/gals buy your puppies/dogs at?

I'm looking to buy either a chihuahua or a pug in the next few weeks. Anyone care to shed some info please?

I've typically always got my Dogs at the local SPCA. I'd rather save an animal than purchase one at a pet store.

Wally, check out Petfinder here, maybe you'll be able to find the dog you're looking for.

I work with a guy that has pure bred blue pit pups... the father is a show dog... I think they are pretty pricey though - let me know if you want me to get his number...

You can find some on recycler or craigslist. Looks like you want a small breed, if so look into a Puggle (mix between a Pug and a Beagle), they're a pretty cool mix.

never thought about adopting before. thanks for the tip Shane! I searched the site and did find a few that I'm interested in but a few of them are a bit too far and mention they do not ship.

I'll give the adopting a pet a shot! thanks again!

We were looking for someone to give a chihuahua to. our friends needed to find their puppy a new home.

I can check with them if your interested. i do believe it's "true" chihuahua?

we could not find someone and just gave up, so I don't know if they still have him.

It all depends. Sometimes if you check your local classifieds you may find a deal on a puppy. I got my girlfriend a Yorki (https://g35driver.com/forums/lounge-off-topic/193109-so-what-did-your-gf-wife-buy-themselves-christmas-mine-brought-bentley.html) for Christmas. Got him from a breeder in Oklahoma. Paypaled her the money and she was supposed to fly to get her but because of the weather we paid the breeder to ship him to us. Usually if you Google/Yahoo search for dog breeders you can find a place that you can get a healthy puppy from.

Hey, no problem at all man. I always feel good getting my dogs from the SPCA and giving them a home. My current dog is a Golden Retriever mix and I found her on Petfinder.com. She was 6 weeks old when I got her and I drove 5 hours each way to get her. She's been such an awesome dog.

There are a bunch of shelters around socal that you can adopt dogs from. My dog got out of the yard a few months back and I was checking all the shelters daily and there were so many little puppies looking for homes....if I wasn't so heart broken, I certainly would have considered rescuing one of them (but I found my dog and we have two already, so I figured it's not a good idea to have three young dogs in one small house).

You'd be amazed at the dogs at the shelters....you'd never guess that someone would dump a litter of black labs (seemingly pure bred), but some people do.
