People Living in Apartments!! Westwood/UCLA
People living in apartments, specifically Westwood LA area (next to UCLA), how do you guys take care of your cars? I'll be moving out from the dorms into the appts and thinking of bring my car down to school. the appt i'm leasing has a nice parking space underground, pretty spacious. but i was wondering how you guys wash your cars??? I never use car washes, is there any places around westwood area where you can wash the car yourself?
any help is appreciated, thanks!!

i wash mine in the alley behind my building. there's a hose connection there and plenty of shade from the sun
some apt owners are **** about ppl using the building's water for personal stuff. my advice is to get to know the maintenance folks & property manager so they'll be cool with what you're doing.

Well ONR(optimum no rinse) it going to be your best friend. My friend use it and so do I. You'll hear and read good review on it. It's a rinseless wash. So you don't need to pre rinse or do a final rinse after you wash your car. It just wash you car and then dry. Thats it. It won't leave swirls, marring, scratches. Also you can use protect all QEW(Quick easy wash). Both work good. But ONR leaves a shine and more slicker but you can only get it online, where as you can get protect all from any RV store.

So do you still use a wash mitt with that stuff or do you soak a microfiber towel like they say on autogeek? I might have to invest in that stuff too when I'm dorming next fall in New Mexico since I don't know if they have hoses or self car wash places nearby.
Here's a article Patrick at excel detail made for using ONR:

West L.A. locations....?
Our first apartment when my wife was working at Century City and I was
in school was near Beverly Glen/Santa Monica Blvd, 1/2 block south. I asked
the owner how he felt about my washing my car once a week and he didn't
have a problem if I kept everything clean. Communication is a wonderfull
thing and it never hurts to be "up front" with your manager! The worst thing
is that he'd say, No!
