Nintendo Wii modders?

Anyone know how to mod a Wii? I have my Wii modded but it wont play 2 new archived games I have (Super Smash and Mario Kart).

Either replace it with a new chip or fix my Wii.

Help me out here.

What chip do you have? Cyclowiz, Wiikey? When did you buy your wii, that usually tells me what kind of chip you have.

Why I ask? Well, Galaxy, Mario Kart, and Smash has an update that makes it unreadable to mod chips... SO....

You have to update the firmware on whatever mod chip you have.

for more information, go to

www.maxconsole.com or .net, I forget. Check both. Look for the WII section.

I've had one for over a year now. It took me about 2 weeks before I found one and I had it modded the very same day! lol

good question! I have no idea on what kind of chip I have... But I'm pretty sure it doesn't have the wiikey since the guy that modded my wii said it was more expensive or harder to get.. something like that!

I bought my wii over a year ago.

Also, in order to open up my wii don't I need that one special tool with the 3 tips? Would I be able to buy that locally?

thanks for the info, by the way!

As JarjarXG mentioned ... you'll need a firmware upgrade.

They are actually easy to get from Target or Toys-R-Us. The trick is to hit the store right when they open on the weekend when their Sat/Sun ads come out. Good Luck.

Yes, they are availble on ebay and also available from mod chip suppliers.

Here is a good resource:

Shoot, I had 2 of the lights turn red 2 days ago while playing GTA4. The back of the 360 was hot to the touch! I have a fan back there but looks like it barely does anything.. Doesn't help it that I have the 360 inside an almost like a drawer in the living room...

Either way, I turned it off and turned it back on and it was good to go. Scared me for a second there though!

I assume you have a cyclowiz then, since that is the other alternative a year ago, or a Wiinja. On the cyclowiz, you would need to solder an update switch. Wiinja, not sure. I'd check the site I gave you. Once you find out what kind of chip you have, you can update the firmware via DVD and the image is usually downloadable from their respective site.

I know someone in Van Nuys (or was it North Hollywood?) who does this out of his house, but he has this website:

www.xbupgrade.com

Nice guy to deal with and responds quickly. Does xbox too.

Xbox-Scene.com for Xbox is like G35driver for G35's.

Just do some research and look into their forums. My Xbox has a 500 GB hard drive with about 30 games ripped in their, a few DVD's, some music, etc. And I still have like 80% left in hard drive space.

Bigggest PITA is getting the chip to work right. There's solderless chips but they are a PITA to get working. So I decided to solder mine on. It's the most effective way of doing it. But I didn't solder the joints good enough; the chip goes on and off. So I need to find the time & patience to resolder this again.

Here's a screenshot of how my xbox looked like at startup:
