California certified legal high flow cats....!

Magnaflow has just introduced the first aftermarket high flow cats for our cars
that are certified legal in Ca. Other company's have claimed to be legal but
don't ask them for a CO# cause they don't have it....only Magnaflow! I've
been asking my son Chris (Magnaflow Sales) for over three years to come up
with a high-flow cat that would be street legal....finally! In a few weeks
you'll be able to go onto www.magnaflow.com and find out where to purchase
them.

Test pipes will work until the CHP pulls you over for suspicion of illegal mods,
I believe the fine is something like $1200 and your car COULD be impounded
which will cost more than running test pipes is worth. I'm not trying to sell
Magnaflows products, it's just nice to know we finally have a legal option.
Don't have the price yet but they are being manufactured as we speak/post!

what about the issue of not legal to alter cats unless damaged?... I'd have to look up the CVC...

The HFCs having a CARB executive order number still doesn't mean much... it's still illegal to change out cats that are still working...

I think it would be hard to prove that your OEM cats weren't damaged, esp since you threw them away when you got your new carb certified magnaflow ones. Who keeps broken cats around anyway?

I know all about the legal issues with having no cats. And the fines are definately 1000+. I'm willing to take that risk though. As long as you don't give them a reason to pull you over, there's little chances of anything bad happening

Regarding these "Carb Legal HFC":

According to federal law, it is completely illegal to modify the stock catalyctic converters. It even states that it cannot be replaced to another new OEM catalytic converter unless its completely necessary due to a failed cat(s).

So my question is... how does this Carb certified HFC change anything? Does this mean you can get away with the hefty fines but still have to go back to OEM when they send you for inspection?

It's California. So they can get around anything they want when it comes to emmisions & modified vehicles

.

Magnaflows HFC flow 40% better than OEM cats. They are ceramic 400 CEL
PSI....that's direct from Magnaflow 10 minutes ago!

As far a legal issues with cats goes it's illegal to replace a cat in Ca. with anything other than a OEM cat until now. Ask Viet and the guys coming home
from Seattle, they were stopped for suspicion of illegal mods by the CHP.
They don't need much of a reason to pull you over, it's there job to create
funds for the state. Test pipes, not on my ride and not now that we have
HFC's available that will carry a CO#!
