Those who are not afraid fo the cell phone ticket

Because $20 sounds so harmless for first time offenses right?

Well If you've ever contemplated:

Well, if I pick up this call from my wife I get some azz tonight.....so what if they pop me for a $20 violation......it's worth it!!!

WRONG!!!!!!!!

Long story short, I got popped for being on the cellie in bumper to bumper traffic on the 57 in Orange County. I told the cop yes I was wrong, I'm not even gonna deny it. He told me it's a non-moving violation and shouldn't give me any points and first offense is $20. Well......I got the letter in the mail today.

Bail amount: $132........kinda far from being $20 right? I can only imagine how much more it will be for 2nd offense...I'm buying a bluetooth now even if I hate it.

Can anyone with any lawful knowlege tell me if they can increase my insurance rates on this? My research on the dmv website yield no points added....but then my letter gives me the option of traffic school for $181. Is the traffic school fee always on the notices even if you don't need it? I hardly think I need to go to traffic school for a non-moving violation..so I should just pay the bail amount and get over it? I'll only go tot traffic school if that will save me a point ( but that would be BS, for a non-moving violation).

Read this blog if you want some insight....the comments are pricelss

LOL, my uncle got a ticket last week for this. His was the exact same amount. We also though it was suppose to be $20. However, he wasn't offered traffic school.

My bud got popped for the cell phone the other week. I thought it'd only be $76 but after looking at CHP's website, the removed the $76 base fee and wrote "With the addition of penalty assessment, the total amount can be more than triple the base fine." Bail amount's the same as yours, $132.

You do not need to go to traffic school. It WILL be on your driving record but DMW will not add the point.

*sigh*.........

this "reportable but no point" offense better not raise my insurance premium.

Writing my donation check of $132 to the Orange County.....$20 of which are justified and they deserve.....$112 of which they do not.

Thanks LJN......are you familar with Officer Torres (i bet there is more than one)? Homeboy was in a SUV CHP car. He was nice enough to let me slide on the tint

talking on a cellphone while driving is a secondary violation in my state and you cannot get a ticket unless you violate something else for which officer is going to pull you over

But it seems like you Californians are Fvcked in that department

Wonder if we have laws like that in Texas. Then again... I just picked up a Bluetooth headset. Hope this doesn't happen to me.
