hks exhaust ticket?
#16
LOL. I got pulled over the same day I went from HKS back to OEM! Cop said my car was too loud and there was no way I was stock...until I crawled under the car to show him the Nissan stamp on the OEM muffler.
Cops don't need a sound meter to measure how loud your car is. They can give any car a fix it ticket with that based on their own judgement.
How is a cop suppose to tell the difference between 92db and 95db? Go get it OK'd and you'll be on your way.................no big deal.

I got pulled over for the same thing on one of my other cars and I asked the female cop your same question @ 5am on my way to work...she told me she was a professional! Went to a referee and it turns out she wasant! She must have bad ears...Its something you can get dismissed but #1 it ruined your day...#2 you will have to take time to go to a referee and#3 you gotta go to court...all cause some cop wanted to screw with you! Good luck with it...

Just make a referee appointment with your hks on. Take it in get it signed off. Referee will give you a sheet with the db of your exhaust and put a big nice shiny sticker on the back of your ticket. I believe they measure the loudness at around 4700 rpm. Make a copy of the certificates and keep them in your car in case you get pulled over again. Then you can go to court to give them the ticket and pay $10 or I believe you can mail it to the court with a $10 check. Overall its a hassle but at least you get a certificate out of it for next time.

Pay $10 for a fix-it ticket on something that wasn't broke to begin with. My HKS won't be coming off and I'd pay the $10 too but this is still BS.

My HKS disclaimer's in my glove box....:)
On the HKS disclaimer is states that it doesn't exceed the 95dB levels, however if you have headers, hfc's or an intake it could be louder. Who cares we like the way this system sounds, just stay off the throttle around cops. Another thing about HKS between their system and my sways it makes my backside look cool! It's alright if you own a Harley and run around without mufflers....laws
