I took my G to montclair infiniti for them to check out my driver's side suspension since I hit a curb about 2 months ago and I kept hearing a thumping noise whenever I would go up a drive way etc. Anyhow the "Master tech" explained to me that I had bend my compression rod and my lower control arm was screwed up as well. He also said that I would need to replace the knuckle and get 2 new barings plus an alingment....TOTAL COST OF $1526!!!!!!!
I told them that I didnt think that the damage was that servere and that I wanted to get a 2nd opininon. At that point he told me that I should really not drive the car and I should leave the car at the dealership for them to work on it the next day. I refused to leave my car there, and this morning I took it to my family mechanic. He checked it out and found that one of the bolts on the lower swing arm was loose. He tighten the bolt and now my suspension is as good as new.
This is why dealers get such a bad rep. Make sure you get a 2nd or even a 3rd opinion when you are spending major cash on your G..

Man ... that really sux. If you can't trust the dealers who can you trust? I just found out that mechanics at dealers are paid based on the amount of works they get. So I can see the incentive for them to land as many 'jobs' as possible and crank them out as fast as they can.

BTW ... you can also take your car to Performance Nissan for any non-warranty related works. Ask for Jeff or Jason to refer you to a good service advisor.

I second that... Performance Nissan has great customer service and are not afraid to discuss "mods" or to have a modded G in their bays.

Too bad we can't warranty service out of them! But I'm working on other routes folks... trust me!
